thanks a lot I was losing my mind to found what was wrong! yo saved my sp , the em8 apparently dropped when I was giving the pcb some heat to replace de charge port with an usb-c port.

Thanks, sir! This one helped me out! My EM8 was still there, but needed to be touched up a little like yours. Working great now! :)

Nice. Regarding that intermittent charging issue, I had a SP console that one of the pins had lifted from the PCB on the back of the connector. It's pretty easy to fix but in my case I needed some tweezers to hold the pin down for a few seconds so it didn't immediately lift off again when removing the soldering iron.
@TheRetroStation5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I'll definitely go over the charge port with the soldering iron to ensure the port has a solid anchor. Thanks!

Hi, now a subscriber and gave you a thumbs up. I checked continuity and my EM8 has connectivity on all 4 points -- are there other areas that are common problems? I need to fix my GBA! Thanks for the great vids!

I'm not that familiar/have much experience with GBA SP's, so I would suggest joining the discord (link should be in the description) and asking on there :)

Hello there! Thank you for such an informative video. I have 3 boards with this symptom. If I were to test the EM8 would I use the same vías you did? Thanks!

I swapped the standard charging port for a USB-C the handheld works fine, powers on and plays etc but it will not charge at all, plug in and light blinks orange and thats it, if the EM8 swap doesn't work (haven't tried yet) is there anywhere else I need to look? Thanks in advance!

It's good to see the interesting parts are speeded up and the continuity check is hidden by the top of your hair, I hate it when people show off their skills and are informative.
@TheRetroStation4 жыл бұрын
Why would you hate when people are informative? And sorry about cutting it off with my head - needed to get a better view of what I was doing. I would love to have other angles setup so if I do obscure the camera with my head then I can cut to a better view, but I don't have the money to buy a second camera. But at 7:13 I show a close up picture with colour coded via's and where to test for continuity if that helps. I am always trying to improve so hopefully I dont make as many mistake in the future. :)

@@TheRetroStation yeah well, I guess I was frustrated to miss the desoldering, continuity check and re-soldering parts and needed to be a dick to feel better. I'll sure check out your next videos, you did not deserve an acid comment.

I too am frustrated I can't get a better angle/shot of the desoldering etc, but I am planning on improving soon :) Thanks for checking out my other videos.

I also heard that you can just take the component off and bridge the connection. Not the best solution but it will get your battery charging.

Hey, if you bridge the EM8 or EM10 connections side to side with a piece of cable, do you think it could work?
@TheRetroStation4 жыл бұрын
Possibly but they serve a purpose and bypassing them could lead to problems either in the future or for other components on the board.

I accidentally broke one of the little cubes on my gameboy does anyone know what it’s for and how i can fix it
@TheRetroStation3 жыл бұрын
You would be better taking a photo of the component you knocked off and maybe posting to Reddit or joining the discord. There people can have a look at your board and hopefully tell you what component you knocked off. EDIT: Just realised you already posted a similar comment on another video - hope you have gotten it sorted/some help.

@@TheRetroStation yes thank you I’m gonna try soldering it but would appreciate it advice maybe if I could send you a picture of the motherboard and the piece I’m trying to fix. But thank you
