I like how the song incorporates the talking sounds of papyrus and sans at 3:20 and 3:22 respectively. Gives me the feel that Asgore is guilty of being unable to save his monsterkind while the Underground's hopes and dreams are all depending on him. The knife sound at 3:11 just makes me feel how dreaded he must have been to have that sound repeat continuously in his mind after every of of his own kind was slayed by the player. Jack Nation it’s just a theory..... Since Asgore was one to kill 6 of the humans ( who as we know are OP due to their high capacity of staying determined) on his own, he was a great asset for the monsters at the war due to the fact that he was the king of all monsters and managed to keep them safe for the most part. But when you show up, Asgore seemed reluctant when it came down to fighting you because he wasn’t directly looking at you when fighting, it seemed as if Asgore really didn’t want the 7 souls because this whole war made him depressed, lose his wife, and killed 2 of his children, he might’ve known that combining 7 human souls would make up such a disgusting being with incredible power like Omega Flowey, and he did not want that.... when fighting you, Asgore might’ve been thinking about how much of a mistake he’s making and decided to purposefully give you obvious openings in his attacks.

Czar but that doesn’t really add much to his skill set 😂😂😂 but I’d have to agree with you, Sans is more powerful, but Asgore is stronger and more durable than Sans. If they’d have to battle it out I’m not sure who’d win, because for starters we’ve never got to see Asgore’s full power as I’ve said earlier and secondly because of how powerful and yet lazy Sans is ( by that I mean Sans is very powerful, even god-like, but Sans can get very tiered very quickly, making it somewhat impossible to know whether Sans would be powerful enough to finish the job, or would he get weakened to the point where he’d have to fall asleep in battle)

I just need to say that this remix is one of the only good remixes of music from this game that I have heard. It does so well at keeping the emotion and feel of the instrumentation and melody from the original fight, but adds so much more meat to the bones. The synths are absolutely insane, meaty, the bass lines feel like they could come straight out of Undertale. Some of the things that the original track from the OST did return here, like the microtonal bs, the arpegiatted bit in the background of the more forceful melody hits, but it's reinterpreted in a much more powerful way. Easily my favorite detail tho is how the asgore motif plays, and tucked in between the phrases are the iconic sounds of the friends you made during the game. It's such a good remix duuuuude

The thing about asgore is that he somehow he still has the willpower to fight you witch is just incredible considering how much he’s been through, i mean just think about it, he and all his monsters went through a whole war, got sealed underground, lost both children in the same day, lost his wife shortly after, he had the pressure of his whole kingdom on his shoulders, had to kill 6 humans and yet he is still going, most people would just want to cry and do nothing else meanwhile he’s out here fighting, is he giving it his all? No, but he is still fighting and he knows if he breaks the barrier, chances are he will start another war yet he’s still willing to kill you just for the sake of his people

I love Asgore as a character, he is one of those characters easily forgotten if you only remember him because of the theme. He is a really sad... man? Goatman. Firstly, he is the King of Monsters, the people who were trapped under there by humans, and remember Chara is a human, so the natives were not the happiest people. But thanks to Toriel, his wife, you are pretty much safe. Asgore treats you well, like a loving father. But the impact of his character comes in when you meet him at the barrier. He tells you that, as the King of Monsters, due to bad ties with humans, they waged war against each other, but ultimately ended up here, with the barrier preventing them from getting out. The way to break the barrier is to use human souls. He asks you if you were ready, like a gentle soul. In battle, his first words were, 'Human, it was nice meeting you'. He is fighting himself, you would understand later. He then looks down, he doesn't want to look you in the eyes. When you talk to him, his reactions are really sad, especially after his recollection of memories. Then once you defeat him, you listen as he tells you his reasons. He is the King of Monsters, hence why he wanted to kill you, he had to fulfill his promise to the monsters, so that they have hope. He never wanted to kill or have power, he just wanted people to have hope that they could go back to the surface and no longer suffer. He then offers his soul so he could fulfill his promise to the people while letting you live. Mercy if you choose it, Asgore is filled with hope, he could have a full family again, just like before. Like he always wanted. Then he gets taken by Flowey which is a real wtf moment. Also fun fact, Asgore's theme, Bergentrückung means Mountain Ridge in German, which if you play the pacifist route, you have a cutscence on a mountain ridge, with Asgore at the very end

The more I think about it, the more I come to realize that the tone of this remix is contrary to that of Asgore/Bergentruckung. The theme is supposed to be sad and majestic, not powerful and intense. This is no final effort, this is no ultimate battle of wills... it's just an old man who wants to finish his story. The fury is gone, the intensity is no more. Asgore just wants anyone to win, because everyone wants to go home.

Asgore was really hurt, emotionally. Listening to the song, it clearly represents how Asgore felt through years of suffering. Knowing that he lost 2 of his sons, his wife left him (as you can hear, a mix of "Heartache" in Toriel's theme), and every monster living in the underground depends on his decision, which is pretty much hard to handle knowing that he needs to kill children for the sake of his people, seeing that Asgore never really wanted to kill, he just wanted everyone to be happy.
