One thing I like about this game is how the Classic and Adventure modes are evolving. When you unlock Luigi you get to fight Metal Mario and Metal Luigi (aka the Metal Bros.) in Adventure mode, you also have Bowser getting a new form when playing in Normal difficulty (basically his soul form before these were a thing) and Master Hand's more chaotic brother is inviting itself in when you hurt Master enough.

I still have my original copy to this day. This Smash game is the fan favorite among veterans due to it aged so well considering it was 2001.

@@LITTLE1994 Yes since the languages are the same data in both. In the PAL version there are 5 languages I think (so they removed the special video sadly).

Completely random analysis but I've always loved that "cyberspace" aesthetic that this game had (probably because it's a product of the y2k era). Makes me believe that the characters are programs and that levels like Race to the Finish and Final Destination are inside the computer's mainframe. I really wish the other games kept that vibe (although Brawl could arguably basically be a graphical update since the Subspace felt like a cyberspace as well).

Childhood nostalgia right here. This and Brawl are the Smash games my generation grew up with and the N64 one to some extent as well. So much more content in this compared to Ultimate.

This did a great job in turning what was essentially an arcade game(N64 original) into a full-fledged game.

I'd argue that fighting games are arcade by essence. It's true that 64 was a bit barebone and much more multi focused. On the other hand Brawl improved even more in term of content.

@@ikagura What I mean, is that the original feels like a game you could imagine playing in an arcade, that was ported to the N64 with a few extras. Melee added enough new content, stages and characters. That makes it feel fleshed out. Though I do agree that Brawl fleshed the game a lot more, some of which, like the Final Smash and Assist Trophies, becoming staples of the series. Which is partly why I didn't like 4, as it felt starved of content.

This was a replacement to mainly show off how to unlock everything in the game (minus trophies) since the original longplay started with a save file with everything unlocked. A 2 player subspace emissary longplay wouldn't be a replacement since coop longplays have always been separate from single player longplays on the channel

@@Freshbrood Platform fighter, as simple as that. Fangames and clones like Playstation All-Star all have an emphasis on platforming on top of fighting (whereas most versus fighters are on one plane. Tekken 4 tried to have variety about floors but it didn't work well).
