I don't know why they insist on talking over voiced segments in games, I've even heard KZbinrs saying that "don't talk over cutscenes" is a Let's Playing "rule". They even made a post-processing filter that raises the volume of their voices when there's in-game dialogue (I'm not sure if they're still using it, but I remember Arin talking about it), which is wild to me.

I played this game as a kid, and I actually think it was pretty good for its time (ie, the first real generation of 3D games). It's kind of an open-world adventure with a wide variety of objectives. Arin's first problem was getting too distracted by/focused on smashing the presents, when they're really just a secondary objective (that also restores your health); it's the other missions (and collecting blueprints) that actually progresses you through the game. The second problem was not realizing that there are two different kinds of jump you can do off of the horizontal bars, and that he happened to keep doing the high jump where he needed to go long and the long jump where he needed to go high. And the third problem was not realizing (until after they'd already given up on the game) that you could open the door by the sleeping policeman; I know it may not have looked obvious, but the tutorial text telling the player to sneak to not wake him was certainly hinting at it, and you need the who cloak inside to get into the post office and continue the game. It's a shame, because there's a pretty groovy Mission Impossible-style musical track inside the post office that they never got to hear; the Whoville theme isn't the only music in this game that punches above its pay grade.

I had the demo of this game on PC, and it was so unstable you could only change maps something like four times and then the game would crash when you tried to change maps a fifth time. As a result, I spent my time optimizing the route needed to accomplish everything in the demo with the least number of map changes.

OK I'm gonna be honest, THIS GAME RIGHT HERE WAS MY SHIT FOR A WHILE when I was a kid, me and my brother used to take hours trying to figure out what the goals were since either of us could understand English back then, just like barely 10% or less lol, but we manage to get very far, and I also loved daydreaming about finishing blueprints and thinking about what they would do, like how cool it would be to use them and such, and once we finally completed one I got so happy

Not to give this game any credit but I will always be amazed at how bad Arin's ability to pay attention to any on screen directions to the point where I know what the game told him to do with the mission list and how to change costumes in the booths while doing 2 or 3 other things while watching the video off to one side. Never change!
