So glad you have those fork tubes and not the "other" ones because I had two of the "others" and both were bad straight out of the box. Tube diameters were out of spec, surfaces were marred from the factory and the hard chroming pitted within a couple of thousand miles. The tubes could be installed but were a sloppy fit within the sliders so under braking they would "clunk" and send a shock through the handlebars.
@johnlennon86536 ай бұрын
Had an iron head that ran like crap after extending the front end because I determined that the carburetor float bowl was on a too extreme angle. My solution was to run the intake manifold through a bandsaw to separate the outer flange and welded it to a level position. Took about an hour and cost me nothing. Bike ran as good as it did before longer tubes.
@SUPPORTYOURSELF6 ай бұрын
Dang what a head scratcher! I didn't even consider the effect on the carb. Thank you for sharing!

@@SUPPORTYOURSELF Probably others have figured that out also. Built lots of bikes over my 61 years, was a bike mechanic for 5 years. In 1976 I helped an older friend ( I was 13) build a 1951 panhead “61inch” chopper with a 15” over girder, raked and stretched frame, jockey shift that he still has. I’ve rode it several times and he is leaving it to me when he’s gone, so I can take care of it.
