I think the panel cuts Kratos and Atreus a little short as characters (also Mimir). The bond I felt with them is up there with some of the greatest characters in film and literature. It’s my favorite game of all time though so I’m biased haha. But it’s cuz of those goofballs that I fell in love with the story in the first place!

Definitely GOTY for me. It puts the same level of detail into the smallest sidequest or interaction as it does its main story which I can't say for GoW or Spider-Man (my other favorites) which had so much filler in it.

Red Dead is the greatest technical achievement and world of the year, God of War is the best feeling straight up game of the year. They're both incredible for different reasons. I think it's God of War for me though.

Im pissed I spent 60$ on god of war 4 and didnt game fly it. wayyyy too short and linear. linear is fine but current day if im spending 60$ i want more than 25 hours of content before I beat the game, it was over in a few days. RD2 well worth it to me I easily got 150 hours in SP, and still want to do another run to do all side missions and all hunting and items easter eggs etc. AND online is just EXTRA gravy. SP was more than enough, but having an online where make your own posse gang with friends, do story missions together where vote on outcomes. AND ITS ONLY IN BETA FORM. even has stranger missions where do them with your posse, and then game modes like death match, battle royal, domination, man hunt ETC. And the online isnt even close to done when it comes to all the missions they will have. That to me is worth 60$..is GOW 4 great... YES. But wayyy too short to justify even close to goty. there is few other games in front of it. just not worth 60$

I beat gow4 and liked it but wasnt worh the 60$. wayyy too fucking short. rd2 is worth the money. you get like 100 hours or even to 175 hours or MORE of content than GOW4. And online is only in beta and thats just extra gravy. gow4 very solid but 60$ for a game im done with in 4 days no thanks

@@guccigucci5002 same man. Exactly why RDR 2 is my GOTY'. RDR 2 and GoW have great quality, maybe both have same level of quality. But RDR 2 definitely worths evey single penny of $60 I gave. And that's the reason R* games sell high. They give huge amount of content for the same amount as others.

Through not a big fan of Forza/racing games, I was also happy to see that FH 4 got some credit. It's the best racing game currently, and it's got 92 on metacritic which is unbelievable for a sports/racing game!

Here is my list only 5 to keep it short and since I haven't played/finish a lot: 1. Monster Hunter World. Poured 100s of hours and still play it every so often. Satisfying to take down a big monster with some peeps. Especially the flying monsters. 2. Spider-Man. HUGE Spidey fan and just the little nuggets of lore you find via backpacks, noice. 3. Red Dead Redemption 2. Yes it's a technical marvel and with that being said, I enjoy being in that world hunting, gunslinging, taking care of my horse (Epona). 4. Dead Cells. I have a back and forth with rougelites about whether I like them or not and I love this game. It's nice to take a few minutes to see how far I can go with my current skills and slowly upgrade to get further. 5. God of War. Like Joe said that combat is so satisfying. Throwing the axe and calling it back, best moment/feeling ever. Looking forward to 2019.

My top game has to be spider-man :). I just had a real blast playing it and replaying it. Also, there just aren't many superhero games on current platforms, especially open world style games. Aside from that though i'm having a blast with dragon quest 11 and also loved god of war, celeste, octopath, assassin's creed odyssey and detroit :).

This was an entertaining watch. Glad to see Subnautica on several lists, but no mention of Celeste whatsoever? Here's my top 15: 1. God of War 2. Astro Bot Rescue Mission 3. Hollow Knight (Switch) 4. Mutant Year Zero Just started Return of the Obra Dinn, definitely a Top 10 candidate so far. RDR2 is not for me, hard quit after entering Chapter 3, didn't enjoy playing it at all.

I'm with you, Leo! I love Shadow of the Tomb Raider and don't understand all the negativity towards it. Camilla Luddington did another stellar job playing Lara, as did the actor who played Jonah. The animations are really well done, the tombs and crypts are fun to explore and it has a manageable amount of collectibles, unlike some games today that just have a ridiculous number of pointless things to collect. It's a fairly easy game to 100%. Overall, I really enjoyed it and thought the story was decent. Let's face it, the majority of video game stories are pretty out there so I don't get too hung up on the story details. I thought it worked well enough and kept the game moving ahead at a nice pace. My only real complaint would be the fact the crafting and weapons system. There wasn't much challenge to it and there wasn't much incentive to really experiment with weapons as the combat was fairly easy and there wasn't much of it. I upgraded the weapons I was using and switched to better ones when I got them but I tons I never ever bothered to use. The different attributes of each bow, for instance, didn't seem to make any difference to the actual gameplay. I would have liked to have been compelled to be a more strategic with weapon choices and incentivized to hunt rare animals to upgrade my favorite weapons. But aside from that, I really didn't have any issues with it and thoroughly enjoyed it:) Good choice, Leo!

It was a 7 for me. Gameplay is still great. Best climbing and best tombs in the trilogy. But all the NPCs besides Jonah had terrible facial animations. I felt like I was talking to animatronics the entire game.

Picked up God of War yesterday. Thought old ones were very meh, boring and crap narrative. Played first hour of new one and its better than entire franchise that preceeded it. Actual story, actual characterisation and actual gameplay depth with combat.

Red Dead 2 is definitely better than God of War for me. God of War’s highs might be better and more epic/cinematic (that dragon boss fight, the flow of the story and its villains, etc.), but the tedious side content really bigs the game down. There’s a lot of meandering side missions in Red Dead 2, but it fit the pace. Celeste and Hollow Knight were some of my other favorites and, of course, Spider-Man.

Oh man, Maplestory 1. I played it back when it was cool to make fun of people who play Maplestory 1. The Grinding. So... much... grinding. Sure, it was severely elevated when the reboot happened. But the game just had this constant linger of emptiness afterwards. Like coming back to your hometown after twenty years or something. They sure knew how to make events cool, though.
