At least Arkantos is still voiced by the same voice actor. He came back to be recast for the remaster (Daniel Riordan) and had his lines finished between the beta and the full release. That's why Arkantos has identical voice inflections in the remaster now.

The characters just don’t seem like they are having a conversation. You can feel that they are voice actors just trying to execute the lines. Arkantos is an exception however. Gargarensis is too metaphorized with that voice

Plus, the death scene of Gargarensis in the end. He doesn’t make the death sound… It’s the details that make something great. The fact that we cannot ever recreate a video game nowdays just shows how much we have lost touch as a society.

Many complained because the actors sounded way too greek for the Atlantis characters not because they were bad. This ruined the charm of the characters that were not realistic in the first place, but rather a little goofy. PS: If your sister voiced Reginleif then she did a great job.

Voice Ratings All Main + Supporting Cast Arkantos: Thank Heaven they fixed this, and damn the og voice actor absolutely killed it, I almost like this portrayal more since you can hear the age in his voice and it fits the more grizzled veteran feel to Arkantos, he’s no young fresh faced warrior he’s a seasoned general with a lot of experience under his belt and going off on his last adventure. 10/10 so happy with this. Athena: Whyyyyy this is so bad, Athena sounds like someone’s mom. Her old voice was ethereal and memorable, that “Arkantos, awaken” is a core memory, this is… half baked. Arachne is styling on this Athena hard. Easily the biggest downgrade in the game hands down. Krios: He’s not bad but why don’t he sound old? He old dude, y no sound old?? Kastor: Old Kastor wasn’t anything special but this feels even more milquetoast. Kamos: This new guy is pretty good, the old one was pretty snorty, I like this Kamos a lot with how the new VA changed it. Agamemnon: A bit mid, by no means the worst thing here, but the old Agamemnon sounded like an old foppish emperor, and he had a lot more emotional variance in his delivery. He’s much more flat sounding overall here. Ajax: This is 100% the biggest disappointment for me here. No shade on the new VA, it’s a hard role to live up to since Ajax was by far the supporting character with the most iconic voicelines to nail, his original iteration had so much damn character. This is just lifeless in comparison. This is a problem with all the new voice acting in general which leads me to believe this is a direction problem. Out of the whole crew Ajax is in the top three most important roles you gotta nail and this ain’t it chief. The “You might feel less like fighting after I pull off your head” here was just lackluster in comparison to the old one and most of his lines are like this. Odysseus: He’s very flat in comparison, and his overall vibe has entirely shifted from clever schemer to Mediterranean IT guy talking to you at the water cooler at work. Chiron: Pretty good, I think I prefer the OG but I don’t think this is bad, just not quite as good. Gargarensis: If there’s a top three characters you gotta get right besides the main character, it’s the villain. The new guy gives it a good try but again the issues with direction continue and he doesn’t have the gravitas of the original by any means. Kemsyt: Honestly the one performance I don’t have any issues with whatsoever. These feel roughly equivalent to me. There’s some moments I felt were better here and some I felt were worse but it balances out. Amanra: Ah fuck, I can’t believe you’ve done this. So if besides Arkantos himself you need to nail Ajax, Gargarensis, and a third, that one is Amanra and I was so ready for this to be good but again despite a valiant effort and honestly a good voice for her, the new acting doesn’t have the right… I don’t know, fire to it. Amanra was always a badass and though there was some good stuff here (“Be quiet back there!”) her general feel and big moments like the Isis Hear My Plea speech just felt off. Setna: He’s pretty good, old Setna was the most forgettable character in the game tbh so I feel his changes here work fine. More in next post

Watched only the beginning half of this clip and I gotta say the voice acting isn't like the original. Hell even the non-essential characters (The NPC soldiers) had more character in their lines than what you hear now. Honestly, they would have been better off just keeping the original voices during the remaster.
