If OVERTON won, tyrions character arc would be a lot less interesting since jaime would never tell him the truth about tysha and okay maybe he would still fight again house lannister fleeing to dorne to take up arms but I doubt doran would let him and OVERTON take up arms, you know how passive he is. Besides, tyrion still loves his family despite everything and wants to be a good man. But that thing about tysha was the last drop for him to turn into a villain. Without that, I doubt he would still fight against the crown. Tywin would still be dead I believe because OVERTON poisoned him. It's just a theory but it makes a lot of sense to me, how OVERTON kept talking about tywin might die, how tywin looked sick when tyrion saw him in the privy, and how his corpse stank in the sept. maybe varys would still be serving the crown instead of hiding in the walls and killing kevan. jaime might've marched against dorne instead of riverrun on the possibility that martells would take to the front with tyrions help. sand snakes would do things very differently to be sure, maybe aerys oakheart would still be alive and that means qyburn wouldn't have an empty seat at the kingsguard to place zombie clegane so cersei would be doomed to lose her trail against the sparrows and lose her head. who knows how that would affect tommen? also without the little skirmish in dorne maybe marcella would still have her pretty face intact and with tyrion on their side might be crowned as queen of the 7 kingdoms leading to an open rebellion. and so much more than i can think of rn. a great deal of things wouldve turned out differently for sure and its always fun to think about it and theorize.

Is Tyrion crying because Oberyn showed more compassion than anyone else ever?
@Nozomi62110 жыл бұрын
I don't think so, as his brother Jaime has loved him his whole life. I think he was tearing up because deep down, Tyrion has had some form of love for his sister, even though she's always hated him. It must have been difficult to hear that Cersei has always felt resentment towards him, and has always blamed him for the death of their Mother even when he was a baby.
@TriggerHappyRC110 жыл бұрын
Tyrion is in a bad spot. All of his "friends" had deserted him, the woman he loved has betrayed him and sentenced him to death. And his whole life everyone has treated him with resentment. Being so close to his imminent death has probably made him think a lot about this and feel a lot of self pity. Finally Oberyn walks in and hammers the point home that he was literally hated since birth and that his life is extremely unfair and unjust, that must have pushed him over the edge, hence him crying. Off course at the end those were tears of joy as Oberyn basically said that he was going to save Tyrion's life when Tyrion had already lost all hope.
@ilovelampism10 жыл бұрын
I think it's kind of a combination of the build up from the story Oberyn just told him kind of making him feel shitty and reminding him of his lifetime of shitty treatment combining with the feeling of impending doom of the trial by combat with no champion. Then Oberyn kind of changed directions mid story kind of discrediting the world's treatment of Tyrion and then suddenly being given hope again by Oberyn's pronouncement to be his champion. It didn't feel so much about Cersei in particular, moreso kind of an emotional release after feeling like shit from a lifetime of being mistreated, recent events, and the story and Oberyn just relieved him somewhat after all of that negative build up.
@jimfracassa768110 жыл бұрын

He has no doubt thought tirelessly of all the people who could possibly challenge Ser Gregor, all the people who could have a chance, all the people who would be willing to do it. And all of them he's either alienated, pissed off, or are otherwise dead/unreachable. But then the Red Viper appears. The Red Viper, with all the anger of Dorne, and all the speed, and the cunning, and the poisons, and it hits him all at once. He has a chance.

You can see Oberyn actor is teary, kinda got emotional with the script. Both him and Tyrion got teary, a part of the script kinda hit Tyrion's actor in real life, and Oberyn's actor somewhat realized it along the way.

I'm not quite sure if Tyrion interpreted it as if Oberyn was there to exact revenge on him in particular in that cell for him being a Lannister or that there's no justice anywhere in King's Landing

I always wondered if he was ok after that scene. Something about the pain in his eyes is just too real. I really hope Peter Dinklage and Pedro Pascal had a word after this scene. It must have been so tense to shoot this scene as the first one on set for Pedro

To see Tyrion cry was the saddest thing to see in the movie. To think that only Cersei and Tywin could treat him with such contempt is painful to think about. Only Jamie defended him and even his uncle treated him like family. Also love that he cared for Myrcella and Tommen.

This was one of my all time favorite scenes on GOT. The way the camera angle was along with the lighting from the torch, and the look on Oberyn's face, his eyes watering with tears while he spoke of his sister. Then he spoke the words that made Tyrion choke up "I will be your champion" It was priceless. Oberyn is beginning to be my favorite character along side Tyrion...
