Your narration really reminds me of Rod Serling from the old Twilight Zone, it's serious, but soothing, and very fun to listen to. And as someone who has a hard time really grasping the lore of games, it's a huge boon to have long playlists like this to listen to and enjoy, so thank you for all your work.

You seriously deserve more subs. I discovered your channel a few weeks ago and got so involved with watching your bioshock episodes I bought them. Here's to hoping death standing is worth a few videos from you.

Excellent work as always, especially how you placed and explained all of the events in the order in a way that makes sense given the context of the subject that involves all three games and downloadable content. I'm looking forward to watching more in the future!

The main issue I have with Bioshock is it’s a mock character; in a long lost interview the developer is said to have gone off of someone else’s notes on atlas shrugged and going off of any other book Andrew is more of what Ayn would call a parasite; and if compared in Bioshock’s book (before chapter 9) he does clamp down on many things, restricts freedom and so on Another note that causes a lot of misunderstandings is; Ayn Rand’s first language was russian; her second was English and she followed stuff at a bit of a odd angle and her cultural differences may have also factored in as she was missing cultural context of words such as selfishness; not to mention the shockingly broad views that go into hypocrisy; such as the banning of charity while promoting people can do with their own property and property rights are valuable One such a example you can find early on is ‘freedom of ethics and morality’ She criticized ethics on their collectivism; group of individual idea of the time, and said ‘those that loose morality have to rediscover it’ I paraphrase, in her book ‘philosophy; who needs it’ If you go into her ‘art of non fiction’ or ‘art of fiction’ she does seem to catch o to the idea of selfishness in the cultural sense at the writing of those books, and is a pretty good note of how people who write in different languages may not be aware of context of culture and so on And honestly Atlas shrugged is a tome; the unabridged audiobook is 68+ hours long. It’s good; and gets better. The abridged versions kinda speed stuff up so the slow decline and showing acceptance of character’s beliefs, how they go and justify them seem rushed in the abridged books I think the big concept that could help is the idea of the gambler’s dilemma; someone goes in too deep and can’t dig out so they keep going; some could drag others in the deep with them out of spite such as that one moment in the book In the book Andrew seems more... just a cartoon villainy, at least at the start of the book He rejects and doesn’t check his premises or even seems to look into what he’s against besides said broad generalizations Just wish they’d get some people to write for them; or help with the game like the ayn Rand institute, or at least help translate Ayn Rand’s earlier writings down better with context of her language barrier

I have been watching this series for the past several months and eagerly await each new installment. I don't blame you for taking a break for a while, but I do hope you will answer the question of what happened to the "Little Brothers" (?), as you briefly mentioned this in a prior episode and I cannot seem to find any other information about this on any videos I have come across (nor any videos as detailed as yours, TBH). Keep up the fantastic work and I'll be here watching your next video whenever you decide to return to this amazing series! 🤘

6:30 Actually it’s not the isolationism that does it; but the ban of outside trade, ban on bibles and other books Andrew censors Even then the only way to trade is through a state allowed boat owned by fountain

Is bioshock 2 canon? There is an audio diary that basically makes no sense in the game which leads me to believe its been retcons the first game
@rosegraham52835 жыл бұрын
All three games and story expansions are canon. I think this series helps tie up some of the inconsistencies very well.
@electrobolt99625 жыл бұрын
@@rosegraham5283 So whats the deal with 'the pair bond mechanism' audio diary by Gil Alexander. They essentially get the date of suchongs death wrong.
@GameologicalDig5 жыл бұрын
@@electrobolt9962 BS2 is canon.I know this cuz BaS acknowledges aspects of it (such as the photos of the Adonis Resort). But you're not wrong, there are inconsistencies. Frankly, I blame BaS for most of the confusion. It muddied up the waters, meaning trying to make sense of it all has been a real pain. You have to cross your eyes a little bit. For instance, I'm interpreting it as Suchong "solving" the pair-bonding mystery by accident, and that the empathy which bound the big daddy to the two little sisters in his clinic as a fluke that no else could replicate. It's not a satisfying interpretation, but these are the leaps that we have to make now. There are others and they are equally frustrating.
@electrobolt99625 жыл бұрын
@@GameologicalDig Whats your opinion on the fact that delta and eleanor were bonded before suchongs death. Even though after suchongs death the pair bonding by Gil was a success, unless im mistaken.
@GameologicalDig5 жыл бұрын
oOEXTREMESOo I would feel better about it if the chronology was left ambiguous. I’m of the mindset that most of BS2’s lore contributions are good. Like how it expanded on the Little Sisters (how their conditioning effects how they the see the world). That stuff is handled well. But the more they (and mostly BaS) try to tie into previous events, the deeper a hole they dig themselves in.
