I don't know why I watch these AFTER I buy whatever the vid is about. Anyways, my thoughts on the psvr...I picked it up about a week ago, as a bundle, and it's still expensive. If you don't already have the move controllers, those come in *some* bundles, not in others, and the price difference in the bundles is literally the price of a pair of move controllers. So $400 for the bundle, another $170 (or so) for the controllers, and whatever games you get. It does add up. And the games are pretty short, so you'll be _really_ tempted to just keep buying games. And you will be tempted, because, holy shit, it is fun.

I got it and the games are quite short compared to other flat screen games. This made me buy a whole collection of games to keep me entertained. Also I now find it hard to play flatscreen games.

I think if this thing sells then of course developers are going to keep the games coming. I think the reason the Oculus and Vive game library is thinning out is because no one is buying the damn thing. Developers aren't going to spend time and money making something for a platform that few people can afford. The PSVR is for the masses at a low price. A bigger install base means more customers to buy games. If the PSVR succeeds it may single handedly save the VR market because games will no doubt be ported over to the other systems thereby helping them out with quality games. It can be the jumping off point necessary for many people who aren't sure about spending 2 grand on a headset and PC that can handle it. That's a lot of money to spend on a hobby. This takes a lot of the risk away.

Michael Olivares This is actually why it has dried up for Vive and Oculus(and the hesitancy by many major developers to jump on PSVR points to a similar issue by early next year). Too expensive to make a game if the player base for VR is about 500,000 so far on Vive/Oculus and PSVR has a shortage.

Kobi Jenkins Nintendo damn sure did. It's edgy and cool to pick on the Wii now but search any critical aggregate site and you will see the Wii had two of the greatest games ever made in the Mario Galaxy series. Plus a heap of other games that used the Wii itself(albeit lightly) to showcase the consoles strength. I'm not sure PSVR is the one to make VR huge, just saying that games matter more than hardware most of the time. There isn't a VR game that captures the imagination of the whole community, just alot of people futureproofing themselves and there's nothing wrong with that. Once a Rockstar, Valve themselves or another major publisher jumps in, I think people will pay anything to play those games.

I purchased mine on during the discount that happened few days ago. Got the gran turismo bundle. I've been amazed at how good the system is. Been playing RE7 and Skyrim VR. They are fantastic games on VR, being inside a game is something that needs to be experienced. No youtube video or review can translate the experience, it is an incredibly immersive experience.

VR still needs that "Killer App". Right now its a cool toy for enthusiasts. The most promising thing I have heard is Bethesda bringing skyrim and fallout to VR. If they can truly bring the full experience to VR, that might just be the killer app to move these devices. I also think the price point is still too high for most people. In a year or 2 it might come down to levels that will help move units.

I had PSVR since day 1, its amazing! Once you get over the awe of VR you need games that are good. I have not played all the games, one huge standout I am playing, Batman Arkham it is simply spectacular! The use of the Move controllers makes every game more immersive.

Usually when you start a game in VR the game will give you a "don't use this if under 12" Stuff and then show you the view of the camera, move your arms up down and to the side to make sure your hands don't go out of view. Rec room is free and absolutely amazing, so many people playing all the time and it is just awesome, same for some other games!

People who do not have VR do not understand what VR REALLY is. VR experience is unlike any game or any new version of any game you have ever experienced. It is an absolutely surreal experience, especially if you jump straight into an amazing VR game like Farpoint. You will be completely blown away, if you have not experienced VR before. I am 40, and a tech guy who stayed away from all things VR and never tried it, until... I jumped straight into VR with my first game being Farpoint. I am telling you, words cannot describe it, because even these words are on a flat screen and VR is not. You are surrounded by another world, the trauma of being attacked is real because it is true one to one scale and things jumping at your face really feel like something is attacking you, its jarring. Lie down and keep your eyes open and throw a pillow in the air and let it land on your face. Now do it again and imagine that the pillow is a dog sized spider with a mouth full of fangs and you might get just a slight idea what a VR attack in Farpoint feels like. Its an experience that you have to try directly in order to understand its potency. Its truly brilliant. You cannot buy an experience like this through regular flat screen gaming. The first time you literally walk onto an alien planet? Come on! If you have the money go get this, you will not regret it.

Pretty good. Got PSVR Worlds, Job Simulator, RIGS, and Rec Room. all work really well. I have a fairly small room too so it's surprisingly accurate for the limited space I got to use it. PSVR worlds is like a tech demo with a pulse. Job Simulator is just fun screwing around with stuff, throwing things everywhere etc etc. RIGS is really cool and requires no real arm movement so that's a fun sit down and play title. and Rec room is a free to play kinda lesser version of VR chat, you make an avatar and talk with people, play mini games. all that. it's fun. If the price ever drops to 199.99 again I'd highly suggest it. my only complaint is that all the physical copies of VR games seem to be getting discontinued or something cause it's either the crappy shelf copy from gamestop or used copies I see. it's really rare to find an unopened game you want.

Here's one huge deciding factor for me: it requires a camera to track the move controllers... Like, what can't the controllers have sensors in them? Also, it doesn't seem to support 6 degrees of freedom

The move controllers were made for the PS3 and are just being reused for the PS4. So it makes sense that it would require a camera. Hopefully a future VR unit from sony will not require a camera for tracking (or have a system like valve index for extremely immersive tracking)

@@hurricane9851 that is true but if you put a bit of time and effort while setting up the be system the tracking is pretty much perfect. My set up for be is brilliant. Also you can use the thing for pc vr as well. I do that and hook up my PS3 eye camera in the back and done. Pretty decent 360 tracking.

wow, so rare to find a reasonable comment on youtube. Take my like ! for me, i own ps2/ps3/ps4 and xbox, didnt purchase 360 because technical issues, and this kept me away from xb1 aswell(always buy console 1 year after release ppl !). Also own high end pc. Personally i wont be purchasing any of vive, oculus or psvr, because i dont think the first vr gen is ready, that being said, i cant deny if theres good sale promotion id pick psvr, because i doubt neither vive or oculus would do that...

Honestly I have the ps VR, it's the best thing I've ever bought. It's the coolest experience. It may not be perfect. But I'm definitely not returning it or selling it. Just hope they make it better.

I tried out a game on the Rift two weeks ago. I wasn't blown away by the game itself, but I really loved the experience. I desperately want VR to take off and succeed, but I don't have the money to be one of the early adopters. as it stands, my PC can't even run VR, I don't have the cash to upgrade my PC, then spend the same amount of money again to get a headset.

Right. Text wall follows TLDR; Tried PSVR today and it was EPIC Just had my first proper VR experience today with the PSVR at the Sony shop. I came away shaking. I NEED to get one. I was asked by the guys in the shop which game I wanted to try out, and being an EvE online player on PC, I went straight for Valkyrie. At it's core, it's just a straight forward space ship shooter no different from any other. But when you are sitting IN the cockpit and able to actually look around, find an enemy and track them as you would in real life it makes things VERY different. Just as things were loading I could hear the sales team telling me I needed to unlock the rolling capability by clicking the right thumbstick in in I felt like throwing up. Once things had loaded, first thing I did was click that stick. "Yup, he wants to be sick". But I was in space. I was looking around and naming all the ships I could see. I even got to get up close and personal with the Thanatos that I launched from in a way that I can't in EvE online. The sickness warning was apparently because most people aren't used to the new type of movement that VR introduces your brain to. Same thing as travel sickness, your eyes are sending different messages to your brain than your inner-ear. Personally, I didn't have the slightest problem with it. I can't stress enough that people do NEED to try it before they spend the money on it and buy it because I can definitely understand how it won't be for everyone. But don't just not try it because you think it will be bad or not your thing. You may change your tune once you've tried it. I know a lot of people will say "Why don't you just get the Oculus Rift or HTC Vive?". Sure. If I had $1500-$2000(which is what they cost where I live) to throw away on that sort of thing. Why pay that when for the price of JUST the headset I can get a whole gaming system and all the bits and bobs needed to make it a whole experience. Personally, I plan on selling my PC and downgrading slightly to a PS4 Pro with PSVR and having a much more locally social experience, while still being just as awesome(imo) as the much more expensive option.

As a PSVR-owner, i'm satisfied with the product as it is. The only drawback for me is VR-sickness witch occurs in every movement-based game but that's something not everyone else who tested it here experienced. My advice is to try it out at a friend or store or else choose for puzzle-style gaming.

I wish the review covered a bit more... like how is the experience for people with glasses? What is the big screen mode like? And is it true, the PSVR can be used with the Xbox One and PC in big screen mode? If so, do you need a PS4 to run the PSVR? In Canada the price is pretty steep. $549 or $699 (bundle) plus tax. That's a good chunk of money I could put towards a 4k display with HDR. How does the PSVR compare in big screen mode?

Stalkey eh. I mean, if you have glasses then be prepared to get them scratched. Try picking a dark room with little to no obstructions of view for the camera. You also cant turn around. I would suggest an oculus or something, but if you already bought it then don’t sweat it.

Yea, take his word for it. Since it is after launch, more stores will have the hardware available as those PS VR Experience things. So if you are skeptical about getting it or are not sure about the games available, I would recommend you do those ones to hold you off for a while until there is more support. However, at the end of the day, it's you who gets the final say, so if you want to get it, go ahead, nobody will stop you. In fact, I would _recommend_ you buy it because then, PlayStation may take more notice and give more support to it if you buy it and they might give us more games available to the system. Plus the PS VR is the one with the highest support for games and developers, so these games may be better than the ones on the Vive or Rift, so keep that in mind.

Being a loyal Sony person owning every Playstation plus the handhelds which didn't get much support. My only concern will Sony give VR the support it deserves it definitely has huge potential after trying my nephews PSVR I was sold on it. Resident Evil kitchen demo what an immersive impressive experience. That's what I was also thinking, and it's kind of weird to make that decision. If you buy it now, there will be more motivation for developers to make those awesome games in the future, but what about the games out right now? What will hold you off until then? Then, if you _wait_ until that great game comes out, you could save your money and play it straight out of the box, but if everyone is waiting for that perfect game and not buying the system now, where's their motivation to make those games? So I like to echo the ideas that other people reviewing the system are/were saying. If you can't wait, really want it and are excited to have it, go buy it. Get as many games as you want and have a lot of fun with it. If you are skeptical and not sure about how it will perform, don't trust the games that are out at the moment, or already have a VR headset and are not sure if it's worth getting another one now, then hold off for a bit and see where it is at or when it is in a good state.

PSVR is a good VR in my opinion, but the resolution is awful and so is the tracking. Still runs pretty well, with some great games. But doesn't hold up compared to PC VR headsets.

I love my VR. I don't know if I'm over the price yet, but since I got it I've used it everyday. For the most part I'm immersed and time flys by. It def has a screen door effect and is graphics aren't anything to boast about. That said I still have a blast using it. My fiancé has started gaming and watches pstv on it all the time. It's like having an IMAX in the house. I think it's something that might change the game.

I am personally loving the PSVR. The playroom party games where massively better then expected. RIGS campaign mode was also massively better then expected. I got through Eve's tutorial but have not had time to continue yet. I played Battlezone first. It was alright, that was my third pick for a game though, and honestly wasn't expecting to much from it. Only got through the first match of battle zone though. I lost of course. lol Also threw up once during it due to motion sickness. Which brings me to my main point here, motion sickness. I am naturally prone to it. I started playing in a state of body that hard core triggers my motion sickness. And I did actually throw up. Then I got a good nights rest, got up and played RIGS. Got to right before my first actual match in the tutorial, and was feeling pretty motion sick, didn't throw up this time or anything, but I still took a break. A few hours later I jumped back in, and felt a little woozy to start off, but shortly felt better and ended up playing through the entire first season of the campaign (+2 online matches) and didn't feel motion sick at all. So long story short, I feel like it is just something you have to build kinda an immunity to. At the start of RIGS, it actually points out that it recommends starting with short play sessions and building up to longer ones. And I feel like that is a very good recommendation. Also, I was so worried I was going to end up over hyping myself. I tried to kinda keep the hype down but as it got closer and closer to release, I just couldn't manage anymore and was just super hyped. Then PSVR blew me out of the water and turns out my massive amount of hype was actually underhyped. lol RIGs and playroom where 'massively' better then expected. EVE is looking to be better then expected, haven't fully tried it yet, but it's looking good. Trying to find time to play everything else as well. Going to hopefully be trying star wars battlefront vr soon. I want to also buy a few other games once I have money again. I sure hope Sony support this as I need more! Shut up and take my rupees Sony! lol So to all the people saying how it is terrible and overhyped, my response is, "No you're terrible and overhyped!" lol but seriously, the hype is real with this thing. I recommend it even if Sony doesn't further support it. Third party developers are probably going to still, and plenty of games are already confirmed for it for that matter. Like 50 by the end of the year or something like that. (Side note: I am still playing my Vita to this day, don't get the whole Sony doesn't support it talk, they literally buffed it with the release of the PS4 and there are stills games being released for it.) The thing that is bothering me is that the controllers come separately and you can’t buy them with the headset and the camera if you buy the starter pack VR with VR worlds because that’s what it comes with for £180 and then buy £75 motion controllers it comes up to £255 and the if you to have enough money to guarantee you’ll get one of the best VR games you put £30 towards games that brings it up to £285 for something that takes a lot of complexity to even just set up it’s a bit ridiculous to make us pay so much for it all at the end of the day you can buy the ps camera separately but come on no one does that except for people who want to use it for a mic or use it as a webcam for like KZbin videos or something so the camera really shouldn’t add value to the VR+ ps camera “bundle” because I don’t feel that the camera is used enough for any others separate needs to be classified as a separate PS4 separate accessory so really when you think about it a PlayStation camera on its own can vary from £30-£50 depending on where you shop so to level it out we should say the ps camera is £40 they should take that away from the VR price as it comes with it so £180 to £140 because the camera shouldn’t be an excuse to add that much pricing onto it the add £75 for the motion controllers adds it up to £215 then £30 for games £245 should really be the price for the whole thing if I were to be honest I know you can get the VR aim controller but that’s up to you like you literally need the motion controllers to actually use VR for VR honestly it’s really pricey for what it is £285-£300 more a less for something that should be £225-£245 I know it’s like a £50 difference but the thing is is that why don’t they just sell the whole thing with controllers and all except for being really greedy....oh wait I forgot it’s Sony....never mind take back this whole comment.

I've been considered getting the Playstation VR to experience some of Resident Evil 7. But admittedly, yes, I don't imagine gaming with it constantly, but I would like to sit down sometimes and just put myself through a VR experience. Thanks for the honest review! Update: Got one last week, played Resident Evil 7. I was disappointed at the screen door effect, and that I would need a PS4 Pro to see more worthwhile graphics, but the VR effect is there and plenty good enough for what I was willing to pay, so far. Future targets: Skyrim VR, Doom VFR, Beat Saber. Current games: Resident Evil 7 (great), Dirt Rally (pretty good, again, need PS4 Pro for better graphics), Superhot VR (short but came with the bundle), Creed Rise to Glory (played it a little bit, came with bundle). Also played Last Guardian VR - not bad but the graphics quality wasn't super, maybe the PS4 Pro looks a lot better.

I've had the PSVR since launch and here is what I've found: 1) some of the demos have major issues - example in the demo of Job Simulator hands shake and can disappear and it's very hard to pick up things that are low down - in the full game they are rock steady and just work, even when your back is to the camera - conclusion: Sony should update those demos, they are bad press and the Move Controllers are just fine. 2) I also think that some of these initial games could have much improved graphics because developers still need get to grips with the new systems true capabilities - when watching a Blue Ray movie it's obvious that the PSVR has a quite decent display. 2) I think some games are reducing visual quality to meet the requirement of a minimum 60 FP because of the power of the PS4, the lack of understanding on how to get the best out of the new hardware and the need to have these titles ready for the launch date could be to blame here - future patches may improve these games (We can hope). 3) I expect that the PS4 Pro will improve the games visuals as well. 4) like a new pair of glasses, it takes time for your eyes and brain to adjust to the PSVR - I've noticed this and now much of what disappointed me at first is mostly not an issue now. 5) I love Drive Club VR!

I got the PS VR headset for $399 plus tax. I already had the PS4 camera and one move controller, got a 2nd one for $26. Looking forward to RE7 and a few other games, but it's probably going to sit there while my wallet recovers occasionally being used in theater mode. Honestly I suggest waiting for a Black Friday deal or until a games you really want comes out for it, because if you're playing something you are excited about it'll be a much better experience than the demo disc included.

It's great for incredible single player experiences, has one of the biggest player bases this generation, so matchmaking in most games are fast, but doesn't play multiplats as well as the Xbox One X or have as many media apps, if you like do other things than gaming. It has VR, remote play for PC and PS Vita. So you should see if the library has the kind of games you like, and go from there.

aside from the demo disc, the only game I got was Rigs and I was surprised getting motion sickness from playing it for under less than 30 minutes. I managed to play longer by narrowing the visibility and having the camera move by aiming with my head through the settings. It helps focusing on one thing on the screen and reduces the chance of motion sickness. Other than that, the game is really fun and I managed to play for over an hour without getting sick. hope this helps

Yes, there are a lot of bratty, selfish children, but just because they have the device does not mean they are "spoiled". It just means that they are better off than the rest of us. And, that's not to say that teens can't be spoiled either. I've seen that just as much, if more, than children. I had to save up for my PlayStation. I actually make a decent amount of money as a local soccer referee. In conclusion, not all children and teens (as I am a teen) are "spoiled" because they have a console you can't afford.

great perspective. I've owned it since launch and IMO VR is a gaming gimmick right now. I love the experience of VR but because the experiences/games are like putting your brain in a blender, I can't play more than 30-45 minutes. I also have an PS4 Pro and have to reconnect it to my PS4 Pro every time because the VR box can't pass through HDR. I will say that the PS4 Pro removes the screen door effect and actually helped with he motion sickness. If you got the cash, buy it but you are probably better off waiting for gen2.

There at 1:40 where he said the screen door effect is more noticeable than the VIVE is so far off. I've used both the PS VR and VIVE. The screen door effect is almost non existent on the PS VR compared to it being very noticeable on the VIVE. I'm not saying this because I am a PlayStation Fangirl. I don't own a PlayStation nor do I intend in buying one. I'm saying it because it's the truth. I used the VIVE at a demo in an electronics store for a half hour and I used the PS VR at my brother's house for four hours two days ago. The big difference is the resolution. You can clearly see the PS VR is blurred and very low resolution compared to the VIVE. Still I would prefer the PS VR because the screen door effect is so very un noticeable. The only thing that lets it down is the low resolution and blurryness.

Seeing that there is still support and a healthy roster of games that are quite awesome, I'll list a few I've played/want to play; Resident Evil 7, Wipeout Omega Collection, Superhot 1&2, Skyrim VR, Ace Combat 7, Dreams, Rez Infinite, Blood and Truth, Star Wars Squadrons, Saints and Sinners, Farpoint, Hitman 3 (VR trailer dropped today). Easier than trying to find a PS5, and it still crosses a threshold of what "next-gen" can become over faster load times and remastered games.
