Lovebites are amazing. Band Maid, Lovebites and Nemophila are all amazing. Japan has so many amazing bands. But Lovebites is right there with Nightwish, as my favorite metal bands. Their songwriting, musicianship, talent is amazing.

Oh, Yeah, great reaction! Other reactors have compared them to Princesses, Superheroes, Aliens disguised as pretty girls, and Angry Bridesmaids. Take your pick, they are the best new metal band in at least 20 years. I sense more reactions in your future, so here is some background: They were formed from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief metalhead and soul of the band) recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" pocket nuke), and they went and found the two guitarists, Midori and Miyako, who were with other bands, and the whole group found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time. Miho and Miyako compose most of their music, but Midori has also been getting into the act, and Asami writes a lot of the lyrics. They have only been around for a little over 4 years. They studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Slayer etc. and they pretty much aced it all. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance is that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and it seems clear they’re taking it to another level. This is one of the usual "starter" songs for reactors, and rightly so--you get a good sense of the band. But they do everything from soulful power ballads to white-hot insane thrash, and almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two shredders are very different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel. Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The interplay makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. (As another reactor said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band.") Miyako is also a concert-level classical pianist-she only picked up guitar when she was 18. They are best live, but their music videos are great too. Petite models (4' 9" - 5' 2") who look like they are going to a fashion show. Let them put on white dresses and high heels (that they play in) so that they can be seen on stage and no one stands taller or plays better LIVE than these insanely talented women. Started in 2016 they were Best New Metal Band (2018), 1st all female Japanese band to play at Wacken Open Air and Bloodstock Festivals (2018) and their last Album Electric Pentagram was nominated for Metal Album of the Year (2020). They play Power, Speed, Thrash, Rock, Ballads and even classical piano!!!! LIVE they are FLAWLESS and they are always in pursuit of PERFECTION whether it is LIVE, Studio, MV or even Anime Theme. They simply can't give a bad performance!!! I like the Led Zeppelin comparison. I mostly see them compared to slightly later metal bands like Iron Maiden. But they really remind me of Led Zep in the way they are so tight together, like a freight train rolling along. Also like Led Zep, they have a lot of blues roots in their music.

FYI - All their songs are sung in English, except the one version of Bravehearted. It helps to turn on CC when available because Asami does have a strong accent which makes it somewhat difficult to understand her English. But after time it gets better. The lyrics to most of their songs are full of hope and inspiration, another plus for this band.
