The story of halo is the point for me. Halo multiplayer was never the best thing out there, these games were always made for campaign, up until 343 anyway, and even then to an extent, they just kinda fucked the story tho imo for 4 & 5. The best speech from Johnson before the Metropolis mission is his whole "We didn't have any fancy-schmancy tanks! We had sticks! Two sticks and a rock for a whole platoon! And we had to SHARE the rock!" These cutscenes especially with the Prophets are even more interesting when you realize the 3 Prophets all knew humanity are the Reclaimers of the Forerunner legacy from the Forerunner AI Mendicant Bias but they covered it up and assumed power. It's funny each Prophets' name relates to their deaths. Regret regretted going to Earth and that move killed him, Mercy received no Mercy from Truth, and Truth died preaching his lies. And no wonder Miranda is upset her father is dead because he raised her on his own. There was actually a cut mission where Miranda betrayed the UNSC to get Chief killed because she blamed him for her father's death.

Just an FYI for the anniversary edition: The very first cutscene you saw with Spartan Locke (blue visor) and the gold elite is brand new and is NOT part of Halo 2. It was added to help set up the story for Halo 5. A prequel of sorts. Our golden elite is actually our good friend Arbiter, who essentially pimped his armor from that silver color to gold. That first cutscene also is part of a TV commercial in which Arbiter delivers a line in regards to Master Chief "The seeds of our future are sown in his path". I'll find it and link it likely. One more little tid bit. The Covenant is a collective of different species. So the Brutes wanting to eat Arbiter (wasn't Arbiter yet, but still) would not be cannibalism. The members of the Covenant are as follows: Elites, which includes Arbiter Brutes, AKA big monke Grunts, AKA cone heads Jackals, AKA the source of fear on legendary difficulty Hunter, AKA big meanies as well as the Scarabs, AKA forbidden gummy worms Drones, AKA flying dudes And the Prophets, of which since they don't exactly appear as anything more than political members in game, also have the official title of old meat sacks. The have official names. For example, the elites are formally known as the Sangheli, from the planet Sanghelios.

Growing up playing this game endlessly and seeing it given a full cinematic remaster honestly gets me teary eyed by it's epic scale. The original captured it so well I thought at the time but seeing it re-imagined blows my mind each time. It's such a beautiful game.

I never played the original release! But Halo 2 i my favourite in the series and a big part is due to how the story is told! Blur did such an amazing job!
@intense79nick3 жыл бұрын
@@GamerJoobChannel They really did. It's also interesting how well the original voice and music hold up. It all feels surprisingly cohesive. My only nitpick is the remaster replaced a Breaking Benjamin song that plays during the campaign. It's still there if you switch back so not a big deal. lol

2:57....you know what.. according to lore, Both Forerunners and Ancient Humanity considered their species (San shayuum) to be attractive.. 😂 By the way at 16:21...you can hear a growling voice chanting something...that's actually gravemind talking in reverse..about how the flood will be the ultimate life form in the universe..

Fun fact: when Cortana come up and talk to Admiral Hood and she say Another whisper, sir near Io. If you play destiny 2 you can get a weapon call Whisper of the worm on a planet call Io. it’s was a Bungie Easter egg before they left halo to make destiny

That first cutscene with the Spartan isn't in the original. It was added to try to get Halo 5 to make some sense in the lore. I'm not a fan of it, neither is a lot of others.

At Blur Studios: Quality Control: "Uh, guys, don't panic." The rest of the room: "Okay?" Quality Control: "We just.. uh, discovered that there was a _slight_ problem with one of the Halo 2 cutscenes we remastered." Some guy: *chuckles* "I'm sure it's fine." Quality Control: "Uh, well, everyone's been making fun of it." *coordinated spitting of liquids* "WHAT?!" "WHAT'S THE SCENE?" "HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?!" "wHY DIDN'T YOU *[Expletive]* TELL US SOONER?!!!" Quality Control: *projects the video* Quality Control: "The phantom was flying backwards. BACKWARDS." The Animation Team: *collective facepalming*

To contextualise the beginning cutscene with Locke and the Arbiter (Thel Vadam), Locke is hunting John (Chief) because he believes that John has gone crazy and has somehow decided to go AWOL, but in reality John is simply trying to find Cortana, who has had one of her rampant fragments find its way to the Forerunner Domain (Which is essentially the Forerunner internet :'D It's... Wierd...), and that fragment has discovered that it's no longer unstable... It's now metastable. That leads into the events of Halo 5, where Chief is just behind Cortana every step of the way until the end, when she turns back and sees that he's there, and Locke is just far enough behind John to get constantly hit by the aftermath of Cortana's actions. Also with what you mention at 4:44 Well... Not sure how deep into the lore you are, but when john detonates the reactor of the PoA (Haha grenades go YeEeEeEET! Plink plink), and that in turn creates enough force for the ring to actually break up due to centripital (I think that's the right one) force, the Covenant see it as the deliberate destruction of one of the Holy Rings, cos the Prophets believed when they first learned of the Halo Array, that the firing would begin a Great Journey to where the Forerunners are... But instead they're actually just giant alien nukes, literally :'D Of course the Prophets don't know that... Only Chief, Cortana, the Flood and 343 guilty Spark (Chakas, an ancient human turned into an AI) know the truth.

26:32 It's a doll of the Didact. The doll changes depending on difficulty. On Easy, it's the Didact. On Normal, the Librarian. On Heroic, the Master Chief. On Legendary, Rampant Cortana.

Something you could do is react a couple cutscenes of CE and Halo 2 in classic mode to see the graphics comparisons as the cutscenes are slightly different in parts as well

Fun little detail you may not have noticed! While the elites are reciting their oath and some grunts are fucking around on the Phantom right before you pkay as him for the first time, the Arbiter is the only one totally still and silent, his head bowed and his mandibles unmoving. Hes the only one not reciting the oath as he is not one of them!

Take note that the Prophet's names are ironic lol Prophet of Truth - Knew that the Great Journey was a lie Prophet of Mercy - Was not shown any mercy when he was killed Prophet of Regret - Did not regret anything, even after death
