I used to work in a mom and pop PC store for a living and I don't blame them for twisting the RGB headers. The number of times I've messed that up only to have to remove the header, straighten the pins and try against is frankly incredible. Once I even snapped a pin clean off and (perhaps slightly scummily) opted to solder the pin back on to get it to work. I, for one, think an aRGB/RGB locking, secure connector is far overdue at this point. (Though I still do think it's not great to miss that on your final QC)

I've built PCs for people for years as a little side business/hobby, and it's always nice to see that there are big companies out there which are managing to do it properly themselves. It's not a high-margin business, or at least, it shouldn't be. For only $100 over the cost that it'd be for doing it oneself, I think that's more than fair, of course you have to actually include the cost of labor somewhere and not everyone knows how to/wants to build their own computers. Sometimes I read people's expectations online and they are ridiculous, no one is going to do this kind of thing entirely for free.
@jayhill21934 күн бұрын
Exactly and as GN has pointed out, buying a prebuild comes with customer service and warranty. If you have trouble installing anything or otherwise using the PC, there's a hotline there for you with no extra charge and anyone who has ever played tech support for friends and family knows that there's a lot of working hours in that business too.
@malphadour4 күн бұрын
TBH $100 isn't enough to be worth while - they will have paid a tech about $40 ish to do that build leaving only $60 margin. That isn't a solid business model. They will be making money on the trade prices they get the components for, plus using some TT branded products in there allows them extra margin gains. But I agree with you completely - anyone expecting a hand built pc for the same price as DIY has no concept of business.

The 3-pin ARGB connectors are criminal, and I mean this type, not this PC. The problem with these large, public-traded companies in late stage capitalism is that we are consumers; the customer is the stock share holder, and that is to whom they are truly beholden. By limiting it to 450 Watts you get your 35% margin back the old PCIE Connectors had. Even more to 45% with reserve. And thats important for a prebuild, if the putt in a 850Watt PSU and a RTX4090 starts a fire, then they have a liability. As the 12VHPWR is only safe at a 450W setting and most know it in the industrie now, they could a lawsuite if they allow in a prebuild 600W.

It's only in about the last 4 to 5 years that they have turned themselves around completely and started producing much better products (not the best) for very very good prices - their value is very hard to beat and they have applied this across multiple markets in the sector. For an old schooler like me it's good to see what was once a good brand return to being exactly that.

This is on par with my experience with ThermalTake when I purchased a prebuilt from them during covid for the GPU. Cable management was amazing, similar Windows install with no bloat and had the same Heaven results etc...

Instead of calling it "Vista" they should have called it "7" for much better stability
@lamikal25154 күн бұрын
Wanna know the funniest thing about why Vista have so much of a bad reputation ? OEMs were absolutely not ready forthe crazy bump in system requirements compared to XP, and were still selling pieces of junk with Athlon XPs, 256 megs of ram and anemic HDD. Try to install Vista on a fast Core2Duo or a Core2Quad, give it 8 gigs or RAM and even a crappy SSD, and it become as usable and stable as Windows 7...wich, under hte hood, is 99% identical to Vista.
@mattrogers66463 күн бұрын
@@lamikal2515I seem to recall the major outrage around Vista being the first revision of UAC producing constant popups asking "Are you sure you want to allow this?" when you tried to do anything on the OS. They had to massively adjust the default frequency of prompts for Win7, and add a slider to further tweak the UAC frequency, which actually made the security warnings useful.

I bought a pc from NZXT back in 2022 and I have had ZERO problems with that computer to this day. All the cables were managed well, drivers were installed, no loose or disconnected cables. I don't know if they still have that high quality build standard today, but in 2022 they were one of or the best pre built manufacturers. EDIT: I spec'd it out using old prices. I paid: $1700 They paid (assuming msrp): $1650. They were just doing it for the love of the game and I hate to see that their company went downhill.

People don’t understand what a bargain the 4070 variants are when mixed with a 7800x3d. In most games it get significantly higher FPS than the $5k PC of last generation. The 50 series with the 9800x3e will be amazing if it follow the same trajectory

I think at Thermaltake HQ, a couple of bottles of champagne were opened. While this video just shows how it should be: A well-designed prebuild for a reasonable price. Assembly was not perfect but good enough. And Thermaltake used standard PC components, no custom BS. This is how it should be. Even the marketing text was okay with just one over-the-top paragraph. WELL DONE THERMALTAKE. I hope this exmplary pre-build sets a benchmark for mid-up-range gaming PC.

Video request: A video detailing the problem of GPU Sag, is this really a problem? How much weight can a GPU take? How much weight can a motherboard slot take? Solutions? I've found this to be a big concern in my two most recent builds, but I'm not sure if I'm exaggerating.

I had bad previous experience with TT PSU 500W and 750 W both died quiet fast. TT 750 W TP shown high oscillation of +12V from the first month of use. After retailer change it with a new one, died in about 2 years. Hopefully the 850W PSU in the Vista 470M will hold better and not gonna warm up too much the backplate of the CPU as is quiet tight positioned right there.
