Damn, I don't think I realized just how deeply Kirito was traumatized by Eugeo's death until Ep 18. Gamerturk did an amazing job narrating in this video as well! I'll never get over how much it sucks that Eugeo is dead in canon, but I guess that's what the gameverse is for. To Alicization Lycoris I go!

Like I said before, when the Blu-ray releases, there MUST be a second version of the nightmare scene adapted for LN readers. The scene is too emotional and has important development for Kirito for it to be cut off.

got teary just listening to you telling the story. if only they adapted all of it and spent the entire episode on it instead of what they did. it still hit hard in the anime but i feel like it would've hit even harder if it included everything. You also made me want to read through the LNs since i've only read volumes 17 and 18.

Despite the nightmare sequence in the anime was cut 2/3, I still rather the one from the anime as it was show visually with the great voice performance. The cry Kirito scream when he experience his most regretted action in his life was so heart-wrenching. The scene of Kirito guts his own chest bloody with the theme sound totally feel like it was from some horror movie was so surprisingly brutal. It may brutal as Leafa's scene at the first look but with the circumstance Kirito has and the atmosphere theme made it mentally more brutal.

I loved the nightmare sequence when I read it in the novel. As much as I was disappointed to see it mostly cut down I still found it pretty emotional and I still enjoyed it for what it was.

For me A-1 tried to save time displaying only 1/3 of the nightmare. But now i have a question. Why half of Ep 17 was an anime original fight between Eiji and Poh? I mean it was cool but at the end of the day it was useless, instead they cut short one of the most important and emotional moments. I haven’t read the LN but your narration made me understand that this could have been much better. I mean i still loved it but i feel like it was dumb adapting the Eiji fight scene instead of a full adaptation of the nightamre.

@Gamerturk I believe if you speak clear english it shows you are proficient in english. That's how I was taught when I was learning english at a young age. My parents told me that, we can train our accent later, knowing the language is priority. 💪

I have no intentions of making complete narrations of the LNs. That would be redundant, I would rather see people getting into reading the novels themselves at that point. I'm just here for filling the blanks here and there so Anime only people can have the full experience where needed.

I'm not too annoyed by "Powerpoint method" since it shows the idea of Kirito, literally, being surrounded by the memories and regrets of his past. And tbh, I don't know if there are many other ways to represent it? How do you show the memories rushing into Kirito's brain, whilst also showing his reaction to it?

I'm joking when I say this, but probably they could have shown Kirito's face on a corner of the episode while showing the memories in the full screen, looking somewhat like how Gaming channels showcase the Streamer on a corner of the screen while we see their gameplay in full screen

Instead of screens floating around his head, they could have simply had him in the foreground, with the full background covered by individual memories would have been 1000% better. HoloScreens were just too funny.

one way I thought about is they could've put him in the exact same position he was in during the moment the deaths and all happened, then transition however they liked to the other scenes by changing the entire place. in a way, it's like making him experience it in person again, rather than just stuff floating around him and all. just my two cents.

It was because Eugeo was the catalyst for him to degrade into this state. So his acceptance was the key for Kirito to come back.

Copper is not even in the season 1, so if they added him in the Alicization. People will be confused. The question is why? Reki wrote it after the Mothers Rosaio Arc(Vol.7). It is in Volume 8: Early and Late, filled with side stories. The Murder in Safe Area where Kirito and Asua teamed up, the Calibur Arc is there. But why the scene with Copper, Kirito and Asuna's meal with Heifcliff is not animated?

While I find cutting out Kirito's friend, a nightmare in a class room and travelling between the places, funny I kinda understand the animators for the later parts. We didnt get Coper in the 1st season, so Kirito couldn't appear in the forest near Horunka (I know that they've already made a refference to PoH in Progressive,, but lets put that aside) but at least they could show Kirito in the labirynth properly. In the anime he was able to move normally and that didnt make sense at all. Also i guess they wanted to show all of Kirito's memories comming back, but they should have done GGO and ALO part earlier, because it doesnt fit into "regretable memories" category. Well, lets hope that they wont screw upcomming fights. Thanks for an extra hard work for us! Edit: Just cut out Eiji and Yuna! Their efforts were futile and 1/2 of the episode was stolen :c.

If they were going to stick with scenes already depicted in the anime, it probably should have been just Kirito "abandoning" Klein, Diabel's death, and the Black Cats. It would have been fine leaving some portion of the middle school thing in as a preamble, but it didn't need to be as long as it was. Reducing that and the number of scenes shown would have gained them time to be more detailed in each of the three scenes, as well as, perhaps, giving Higa a bit more of his contribution. The extended Web Novel version of the telling of events related to his "friend" from the Beta Test would make good material for a published side story, as it was omitted from the LN version of Volume 18.

If they would of put the Asuna fight in episode 17 instead of the OS fight we would have more detail well at least that sequence while incomplete made a lot of people cry emotionally Now Kirito is back ready to kick the reaper's ass I should say Joker's ass since Vassago is Kirito's joker in a way I hope they dont screw up the epilogue ill pissed if they do because there are two scenes i really wanna see

While i do agree with what you said here there would be a passing issue because u still needed to arrenge leafa and shinon parts and the nightmare can’t even begin without the higa part it would need a lot of arregements to make it work since you can tell since the beginning of part 2 they where already fixed in adding the ordinal scale part I know they could pulled out but it woulda needed to be worked since episode 13 and maybe that could mess up the passing we got for those episodes for good or for bad
