The actual trick is to stay stil while aiming, then move when the laser fires. It was frustating at first, but then I realized the aiming beam aimed faster when still.

there's a specific way of targeting the reaper, which can eliminate it within 2 minutes. the closer you are to the "eye" of the reaper, the quicker it fires! try to stay in the immediate center of the laser eye. also, it fires slower when you are moving. try to stay stationary.

Everyone having trouble...couple tips. I did this on insanity and it works..through all 3 strikes. You can stay aiming at the reaper 100% of the time. Stay strafing. Once it starts firing while your strafing, start strafing in the other direction. No running needed. It always continues to bend its fire the direction you were strafing as that shot starts. I had alot of trouble with slo-mo end. You have to aim at the center on the circle shown....not the eye of the reaper. Once I did that it charges the shot in less than 10 secs. Good luck...I had alot of trouble getting it figured out. I hope it helps you all.

These kinds of fights are the one thing I hate about video games... If I have to do something in a very specific way like this it just pisses me off. Its not a "challenge" and it doesn't "exercise my mind", all it does it piss me off and teach me how to memorize a method. That's not fun... I'm surprised how many people spent hours doing this. After 45 minutes and 15 tries I'm done for now. I'll come back later when I stop imagining violent ways to kill the Bioware team.

Pro tip: set the difficulty on narrative because this is not a boss fight. It is a glorified cutscene that sucks ass. On narrative you can just hold the lock on and roll.

Stand still till he start to ""open his eye"" -> start to move to one direction -> turn to other direction the moment he starts to shoot his laser(side roll!) -> you can stop moving when it will be clear that he will miss -> finish focus -> repeat. As for final slow-mo part: side roll, focus, pray... :D

I figured i would play a lot better the next day sober but NO! Still hard as fuck. And y'know what all it really is is patience. For anyone that wants the insanity achievement but can’t beat this on insanity - If you have a save in ME1 that’s close to the fight with the sovereign version of saren, load that up. Defeat saren and watch the cutscenes for a while and eventually you’ll get the achievement for insanity 2/3.

I won this way: - start around the middle and start moving in a direction. - When he starts to lock on, change direction and roll about twice the opposite way. - Then aim at him while moving in the direction you rolled. - Repeat until you’ve almost forgotten what fun is and you’ve won. *You may have to roll more or occasionally run to get closer to centre since if you get stuck against a wall, you’re dead.

Playing on Insanity and this is the hardest part of the game so far… I’m sure that fight with Kai Leng will be tough (if my memory is correct). This is just kinda annoying. Sucks cuz it’s supposed to be super epic Edit: Don’t move when you’re aiming at the eye. It’ll acquire the target much faster. Made a huge difference

This wasn't that bad once I looked up what exactly is going on. The game doesn't make it clear that you have to wait for the gun to "reload" or whatever you would call it, so I kept dying after the first strike. But I don't understand why they wouldn't make that more clear, it just seems completely impossible if you're not aware of how long it needs to be ready again. Dumb design decision.

Having beat ME2 and ME3 on Insanity on Xbox 360, I remember dreading this throughout playing this new Legendary trilogy. I couldn't remember what game it was, or even the mission. I just remember the dodging and the constant dying. With that said, as soon as I saw the boss this time, I did a quick search here and found this video. Thank you @gamervets. With that said, it took me a couple of times before it all came back to me about where to stop running and start aiming/firing. I beat it on the 3rd try, but in my adrenaline rush I began skipping through the dialogue -- not realizing how important to the game it would be. I quit the game, assuming it had saved after killing the final boss. It hadn't. The 2nd try took me several more tries than the 1st, because I thought the 3rd time the boss got back up was the time to aim while rolling. Then, after beating the boss, I let Legion die. Then while listening to the conversation/narration after, I was reading that I could've let them both live. So you guessed it, forced quit and did it again in one try. Don't get me wrong. I'm still shaking. Way too much adrenaline. But this boss on insanity is easy if you just follow what is shown in the video! As for the 3 geth primes, that also wasn't (too much of) an issue. I didn't die in that one. Bring Tali (always bring Tali to Geth/Cerberus missions) to spam hacking. Wait for them all to get semi close (so you'll have cover to run from the two on the side). Run to the far end of the middle immediately after using a medigel. Then as an adept, I used energy drain to get rid of the first (middle) Prime's shields while at the same time allowing the Prime do my work for me by shooting at the other two coming now coming behind it down the middle. Once the shields are gone, hit with warp and shockwave. All while Tali continues AI hacking, and drone with fire on the last one to keep it from coming to you. Just make sure you have plenty of medigel because sometimes Tali and Liara don't stay in cover. What has been difficult for me on ME3 Legendary on Insanity? Dealing with the ambush at the sushi restaurant. Lost about 14 hours of gameplay, because I gave up after trying to beat it on Adept, not realizing I needed Energy Drain. I'm not that good at headshots, so I went to a previous save (14 hours of gameplay earlier) and replayed everything a little differently so I could get Energy Drain to kill the damned drones that strip your shields during the Ambush. Have yet to replay that. Was hoping to get to level 60 first. What I'm more upset about was losing the triple Paramour achievement due to a dev bug. So I'll be going through the entire series again to close out a few achievements I missed. There are worse ways to spend your time!

Yeah, the Freethinker guy's point about where to stand seemed to help me the most. For whatever reason, it did charge a lot faster while standing on the raised rock almost exactly in the middle. Thanks for the quick response man! I finally got it! :D

Game is bugged!!! Could not pass the fourth strike. No matter how many times I tried, it would not charge. Instead of resuming after I died, I selected to load previous save and beat it first attempt. Key point: being stationary when charging the lazer makes it charge faster.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I point the cursor at the reaper where the lazer is coming out. Just like he does in this video. I hold down the right mouse button. Nothing happens. Every once in a while I click the left mouse button. Nothing happens. I've died 12 times and only twice was I able to actually see a circle in the "gun" that I'm holding. Both times I was able to do one attack. Then that's it. This is so stupid. Oh well. They were fun games up till they told me to fight a reaper with no weapon. Guess I'll find something else to play that's not broken.

The slow motion scene around the @2:44 mark? It's been a long time since I did this but maybe you need to line up the red eye target right away. I think that at this point, you are nearly done beating the guy. Good luck though, I know it was pretty frustrating getting past it.

Thanks for uploading this- agree this is a frustrating boss fight that isn't as epic as its made out to be. I didn't realise you had to stay absolutely still at the final part- I thought you had to dodge the beam. In addition- if you continually side step left or right and target at the same time you can pretty quickly bring the orbital strike down.

It probably does make a difference, I did it on Hardcore difficulty. The boss is probably a lot faster in attacking you on Insanity, so I bet you have even less time to target.

The secret is to not move while you are aiming at it, and make sure you aim down sight at it, despite some saying hip firing is faster, in this case its not. Just keep running back and fourth avoiding the lasers, and stay still while you aim at the Reaper, once you have a chance. Also if you are playing on Soldier Class, make sure to use your Adrenaline Rush, it helps. Good luck! 👍

Unsurprisingly this remained just as bad in the Legendary Edition. A couple tips if you’re doing this on insanity, If you’re on manual save, turn on auto save so that you’re not reloading the pointless run to the geth ship and turret attack (which you don’t need to use at all). Next don’t use hard sights (LT/ L2, etc.) instead chip at it and run all the way to one side then chip at it again, run to the other side and repeat. Due to the auto save, you’ll start directly at this part since it won’t allow you to manually save the game. This makes it much faster and easier. Took me awhile to figure it out but hope this helps others out.

Best way is to target, roll, target, roll...until you get to the rock border and target, roll back in the other direction. Go back on forth until the job is done.

Its impossible to beat the part where it's right on top of you. 18 attempts in a row and it always fails. Reduce difficulty same result. This game must be glitchy at this part. Might have to do the entire damn mission over. Straight bullshit this is.

JUST BEAT: At the slow mo part do wait for the reaper to lock, do a sideways roll and then target. It seems to lock your strike quicker. I wound up central on a rock ledge, dont know if the location was a factor. But it locked way quicker for me this way.
