According to the Emperor Heaven site you really really *REALLY* want to irrigate your fields: "If a field is irrigated, the fertility doesn't change, is irrigation worth the trouble? Yes, it's certainly worth the trouble! The crop output is, in fact, increased. If you take a look at the counter on the Agriculture panel (how many people can be supported by the current food-producing facilities), and compare the numbers before and after putting down the irrigation ditches, you will see that after you build them, the food output is almost doubled."

The dreaded herbalist and acupuncturists, the ruiner of city blocks for first time emperor players.They have the shortest walking distance of 30 tiles, should help alot of people playing with city planning.

I never search about the ancient cities that much. But I recently saw Chang'an map on the wikipedia. And I have been wondering since if we can recreate it (or any historical cities for that matter) in this game while still attaining perfect Feng Shui. Because unlike the mess of an urban plan we often saw depicted in fictions during this period, Real Life Chang'an seemed to be arranged in blocks like those of modern cities instead, which is fascinating for me.

@@awordabout...3061 What I'm wearing here is basically just a shirt with a Nehru or Mandarin collar. Each culture has a specific name for their own style of it though. The Chinese have the samfu, Malays have Baju Melayu.

Also, you totally forgot that you can fish on this mission. I like it because you never have to worry about whether fish is "in season" or not. They just fish. And while it's not the most efficient, it's handy for what it is.

I'm torn - I love your brutal efficiency in other city builders, but the natural look is amazing too. You might have to revisit Pharaoh and Caesar and do "natural building" layouts for them too :P

Well for Caesar I did one natural city. The special challenges weren't natural but they were different from our efficiency. Pharaoh could be revisited but I just finished that, so maybe later haha.

I found that during earthquake, if you save right after earthquake and load it, then no damage would be done to your city.

I'm not that big a fan of fishing, just prefer farming as a personal preference I think. I did the same in Caesar 3, usually only using fishing when I need it. Also, glad you're liking the new format!

So...I'm confused...are these videos originally made on a stream over at Twitch? because you're talking sometimes to chat, right? But seems you are also speaking as if it's going to be a KZbin video per see (the introduction of the new format, not heavily edited etc)

Yeah they're streamed but I have what I call 'recording mode' where while streaming the main focus is production for KZbin. It's because I come from KZbin first and Twitch is basically what I used to do offline, but people wanted to watch the process. The switch to no editing is more to do with viewer habits. Years ago, people liked short videos. Now if I cut things out, people complain and many use these videos almost like podcasts just playing in the background. I tested not editing, which resulted in videos 2-3 times longer, but watch time and viewer retention increased with the video length meaning people wanted to watch everything.

Love zakhs new 'organic' style to desing his city! ^^ but tea...love it...but dont like how some of it is grown these days :/ heard for example of how basicly the intire highland coast of india been converted to tea bushes becouse of the humidity..problem though just like plantations in africa or south america...gentle giants like elephants or proud awe inspiring apex animals like tigers ,jaugars lions or ther prey animals...gets at best displaced to slowly starve to death or at worst...gets slaughterd , and like always cant blame the people working there...cant blame the animals..but corps that buys it all or goverments or religions all puts a deaf ear to the risk of permanent ecological and economical catastrophy if this downward spiral goess to deep :(
