However, If we take only the earnings into consideration the difference will still be 8437.5 (5437.5 and -3000) as we are taking into consideration the money he put on stake in both the win or lose cases.

In question 2, you can also make the denominators of all the fractions same (40) to compare them, the calulations will be quicker. Also, shouldn't the answer be 1135 as we are only asked about the maximum earning and not the total amount that he'll get (4535).

In question 2 and 3, the term 'earnings' mean Revenue or Profit? Sir has assumed Revenue. But acc to me, it should have been Profit because of the words-" for every Rs 3 the gambler puts at stake, he earns Rs 20, in addition to the original stake. Moreover a clear distinction has been made in q1 that he is 'receiving' the amount which made it very clear that it means revenue in q1. But for q2 and 3, I think it should have been profit.

Last question approach seemed wrong to me He might get more money even if he does not select the highest upsets if the expected winners are giving good returns in the highest upsets. If the difference between upsets is low, he would need to select based on the expected winners. Plz let me know if I am wrong sonewhere and if you get my point

If a person wins the bet, he gets the amount he had bet + whatever the odds are... But if he loses the bet, he gets nothing... He loses the amount he had bet too... So the min. condition is when both the teams he had put money on loses, which means he gets no money.
