I recently started playing Unicorn Overlord as my "holiday game" and I'm having a blast. I still have many games to play from this year but so far it's very likely to be my Game of the year too.

@@locloudanerpg also I think your comment really crystalized for me why I hated Rebirth so much. it's a game at war with itself. it DOES absolutely play like every other game out there, but at the same time you can tell it was made by absolute FF7 sickos (meant as a compliment lol). so it's stuck between just letting their superfan flag fly at all opportunities but also gamifying every part of the original somehow and it just leads to a big mess because both aspects make everything in the game drag on and on.

Probably Xenoblade X. I didn’t like it as much before so im hoping the switch version makes some good changes. Altelier Yuma has peaked my interest as well. Also stoked for the Suikoden and Lunar remasters. How about you?

@locloudanerpg interested in seeing how Civ 7 is after the big gameplay changes they've made. Clair Obscur looks interesting Not a big shooter player, but i always liked Borderlands, so excited to see if 4 is any good. Yumia looks great (they've learned how to maximize that character design!) And The pirate themed Yakuza Like a Dragon looks fun. As with all things, tho....I just want Final Fantasy Tactics remaster / remake. I'd trade all games this year for that.

I can completely understand and respect your disappointment with FE The Binding Blade, but I would have liked it if you had talked just a little more about it. I honestly love the game for its simplicity and challenge, I think it makes it extremely fun, and the story has very good world building which for me makes up for its simple cast of characters and basic protagonist, because in the end the story feels focused on the world more than anything, also I think the villans are pretty good. Even though I think FE7 is better, I enjoy FE6 just as much. I think both games are great for its own reasons.

I can agree with the villains but I can’t remember the cast and story to save my life. That’s not how it was for many of the others. It’s probably just as good as many of the FE titles, I just personally didn’t enjoy it.

I agree that Trails Through Daybreak was a setback. It’s combat mixed with action and turn based was interesting. I still really loved the game and loved the characters so much. It’s my all time favorite series in video games. I’m beyond excited for Daybreak 2 in February as well as Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter Remake in the Fall.

It's a shame that you thought that Roy wasn't a very good protagonist considering he's my favorite Fire Emblem character and you didn't like FE6 that much. FE6 is one of my personal favorite games in the series. Oh well, to each his own.

Ff7 rebirth is not just goty it is the best rpg in the last decade with persona5, dq11 and Nier Automata. And this is from someone who has og7 as his best game of all time. We barely disagree on our rpg takes but here we need to fight 😂
