I looked up the game out of a desperate attempt to figure out what most of the enemies in this are (results still unclear) and found something kind of interesting, to me at least: apparently the instruction manual not only mentions the character of Tobias using his thought-speak to help the in-level Animorphs (which obviously never happens in game), but also mentions that you're supposed to actually acquire different morphs in the levels and use them for fighting and puzzle-solving. Looks like the game was supposed to be rather more complicated than it turned out, but a tight budget and time frame (since this was probably commissioned at the height of the Animorphs' popularity in an attempt to make a quick buck off of it) resulted in an obviously rushed cash-in. On the one hand, a good, fun game is always preferable, so it's a shame this didn't get the care it might have had; on the other hand, more time might have meant a less broken but more mundane experience, and bad but entertaining is always better than serviceable but boring.

Chaos Shadow yeah i remember the books from my chilhood. The characters get the power to morph into animals they touched, but if they stay to long morphed, they can't morph back. Tobias is a bird, because he fucked up.

You were probably reading the manual for a different Animorphs game that was on PC. It was a RPG style game that featured all of those things you mentioned. It was also bad but probably better than this.

@@tomr6869 I double-checked and no, that description was indeed from this game (Shattered Reality), not the PC game (Know the Secret). Additional note from the instruction booklet: apparently there was also supposed to be a mechanic where Visser Three would appear in different morphs throughout the game, not just the end. The quick overview of enemies mentions 'unknown aliens' that could be Visser Three in disguise. So that's... another thing that didn't happen.

Where my fellow Animorphs fans at? I am surprised that Animorphs made a return performance to GDQ... and very happy at the same time! Yes, Animorphs is full of minor memes, however most are specific to the fandom (Goosebumps bashing, Marco endlessly flirting with Rachel, Erek showing up, The Oatmeal Incident, Happy Meals With Extra Happy, stuff like that). Just don't mention James Cameron's Avatar around an AniFan. 34 + 36 = Avatar. 23 + 34 + 36 = 1.5xAvatar HBC + 23 + 34 + 36 = Avatar^2

Larry Davis iirc there's an alien that grants a group of children the power to morph into animals they've touched to defend their planet against another alien species. The bad guy can also morph.

I don't know if you remember the books but they never really gave any clue as to WHY they were able to stumble across their powers, like what happened before they got them sorta deal if that makes any sense. I can't remember exactly HOW they got their powers but for example if they drank some sort of radiated water and that gave them powers it doesn't explain why the water is radiated in the first place. I'm shit at explaining this. And I'm probably wrong anyways.

I remember reading the Animorphs books as a kid making it to like book number #8 I never realized how fking dark the book series gets. **spoilers** during this run someone in chat spammed RACHEL DIES! So I’m like wtf how could she since it was a children’s book. So I look it up on the wiki and all of the other crazy stuff that happened by the end of the series. Now I can’t believe that this was a children’s series lol. I wonder how i would have processed it if I read it all the way to book 54 as a kid
