A good speed runner and a great grandson showing his emotions at the end.

D/Gen was one of those weird little childhood artifacts that I never expected anyone else would have heard of. What a treat to see it so thoroughly disassembled on the GDQ stage!

Same! Heck, I've completely forgotten that this game even existed until I saw this video

The original unpublished Apple II version was released by Jordan Mechner who was given a preliminary copy from creator Veda Hlubinka-Cook back in 1989. Amazing game.

Once I can get my Apple ][c in working order I was planning on looking at it.

Just to give people a bit of an update: I just received word from my mom a bit ago that my grandfather has lost his fight with cancer and passed away about 30 min before I posted this comment.

I actually owned this game legit on DOS back in the 90s. I located the disc again a couple years ago. But I have it on Switch now

I was already excited to see this game finally make a GDQ appearance... but when I realized this game's NPC pathfinding would be making a GDQ appearance, my joy knew no bounds.

The pathfinding can be amazing sometimes.

It being 2025 and being shot at by malfunctioning AI systems while still needing to do your job feels a bit too real.

Don't know why, but I absolutely love the look of these old DOS games.

This particular run was done on the Commodore Amiga. That being said, I originally started running this on DOS. The OCS/ECS version is the only one I am aware of that has the mostly blue palette. The AGA version has a similar palette as the DOS version.

Man I loved this game. One of the few I actually bought in a box. It sucked me in and it's one of the relatively few that I finished.

I've only ever played the demo of this on my A500+ back in the day and thought it was weird and incredibly hard. I did see the HD version on Steam but never got around to checking it ou!

The amount of background noise from people talking loudly while the run occurs is admittedly off putting. I have never attended GDQ and only watch the videos posted here on youtube. However, I would think people should be expected to be a bit less rude during a run and keep their unrelated conversation down. Seems like it could be distracting for the runner as well as people who are their to watch the run.
@tbcr27 күн бұрын
At least for me I had been explicitly practicing for the run in the practice room so any background noise basically faded into the void due to focusing on the game.

People have been mentioning this on other videos. I think maybe this year's audio mixing is a bit less tight.
