Bought $5K at 92 today. I wasn't planning on buying anything, but after what I saw today in the morning I got triggered. It's not about the money anymore. It's about beating the hedge fund that has access to all kinds of insider tools to screw over retail. They were artificially capping the stock price at $90 for a while. On top of that robinhood increased their margin requirements making a lot of people get a margin call and forcing them to sell. They are all in fucking bed with each other. HODL 💎

Investing your own money is meh. Bullshitting someone into giving you their money to invest is better. exactly, most logical comment.. Louis may say buy it but if you look at the gamestop share chart for 20 years, it suddenly gone up, means some few profited and selling the stock to keep the profit.. they make stories of this and that, then encourage people to buy more stocks so they can make more money from artificial up and downs
@TheNefastor3 жыл бұрын
@@vuk1419 actually that may not be the case. The share valuation is indicative of how much people want to buy it for... it doesn't mean that it's actually being sold for that amount. If the person who holds the share has a reason to keep it (ideology / activism in this case) they don't have to sell. This is like an auction : the current share price reflects the currently unfulfilled buy orders on the marketplace. Eventually, the short-sellers will not have enough money to keep offering higher and higher share prices, or they may go bankrupt, at which point the share price will plateau and then come done brutally to reflect the actual value of the company (meaning its tangible assets and average profitability, mostly) If you have those shares and want to make a statement, keep them : you're not going to lose much in the end... as long as GME itself doesn't go bankrupt. But the hedge funds will definitely hurt massively. Especially in terms of image vis-a-vis their clientele, because they all attempt to sell reliable returns, and this is complete chaos. If I had such shares I'd keep them right up until the point where they fall slightly above the price I paid them : I get to screw over the hedge funds AND make a little profit at the same time. That's just as good as being paid twice for the same job.

Billionaires do not become billionaires just by providing needed services. A millionaire? Sure. A billionaire? Different thing. Thousandfold difference to the millionaire. Millionfold difference to you the thousandaire. Nobody becomes THAT rich without large-scale wage theft (i.e. underpaying their employees), tax dodging, and tax cuts (that they bribe the government and media to procure, when they aren't already IN the government and media -somethingsomething Jeff Bezos owns The Washington Post now...). That is not being "productive for society". They may be selling a product and may be slightly less useless to the world than people who only get rich in stock, but that's a low bar. They are draining society. They are literally robbing society. Wage theft and "white collar crime" eclipse all other kinds of theft in financial damages. Set your sights a little higher and don't feel bad about calling out injustice. Don't feel like you're "not supposed to complain all the time". Complain more. Complain louder. You're allowed to complain. "Complaining" is how we got labour unions, how we outlawed child labour, how we got companies to actually track what chemicals they put in their products and what they put in the river. Unionise, and keep "complaining". We can make the world fairer than it is. Anyone who tells us different is trying to sell us something.
@Hekateras3 жыл бұрын

Underpaying is subjective. If they’re getting the market rate then it’s fair. Also, more taxes were collected after the tax cuts and tax revenue still remains at 17% of gdp as it has for decades. There’s also a difference between workplace safety and finance and economics. You need to brush up on that
@Hekateras3 жыл бұрын
@@todoldtrafford " tax revenue still remains at 17% of gdp as it has for decades." Well, that's not true, is it? Not sure where you got that from, but from here (data.worldbank.org/indicator/GC.TAX.TOTL.GD.ZS?locations=US) it's zigzagged between 12% and 8% in the past 20 years alone. But you know, it's not about one specific number here. It's about the fact when 9-11-casualties-tier numbers of people die every day from Covid in the US because they literally can't afford to skip a paycheck, then speaking purely empirically here, something is broken and needs to be fixed. There's no talking your way out of it, no pseudo-intellectual "Actually, if you check this one number you'll find that everything is fine" bs you can pull. A healthy society isn't this fragile. I just hope enough people still remember this lesson after the pandemic ends. Underpaying is not "subjective". If you're paid "fair market share" for fulltime labour but can't keep yourself housed, clothed and fed off that paycheck, then someone, somewhere, rigged the game to make sure that money would go into their pockets instead. It's pretty straightforward. I'm just bewildered that people like you aren't more up in arms about being stolen from. Even if you earn a livable wage, at the very least, companies underpaying their employees means you take over the costs for them, through those of your taxes that go towards crisis management of people in poverty. You're the schmuck in this situation. (No, the solution isn't to not pay towards crisis management through your taxes. It's to not let companies underpay them and have them require assistance in the first place. Duh.) It's called wage theft. Brush up on that. But here's the thing. If you're right, and things are so fine and dandy, you should still unionise. If nothing's wrong, you and your employer have nothing to lose by you unionising, and you gain an infrastructure for keeping things that way and making sure they don't change. ;) Just a friendly tip. (P.s. Anyone who still believes in the market "regulating itself" when evidence of monopolisation is everywhere, when the same people who work/worked in giant corporations are IN the government and media and are helping make the same laws that help corporations evade fair competition is... well. Very very naive, to put it generously. Willfully ignorant, more like. I have no sympathy for you, but quite a lot of pity. Stop bootlicking and fighitng against your own interests. You have more to gain from solidarity with others like you than from defending the status quo. It also happens to be the *fair* thing to do. In the actual meaning of the word.)

Elon isn’t on our side on this, not really. He just reads the same Reddit/Twitter/social media outlets like everyone else because it’s great at literally telling you what everyone is doing and planning to do.

I bought in at $153 yesterday, which was ATH, it dropped 40%, and its about $210. Not financial advice, but I expect it to go up significantly tommorrow, over $225

The bail out was a private investment and not public funds. I got worried by the wording but they had to accept outside investment.

Short sellers can buy a call option to protect against price increases. So it isn't just the supply of stock that matters.

Very educational, you seem really aware that a lot of people just now realize the power they have and are new on these topics, so you kept it really easy to understand, thank you for that.
