I agree with you about the pay. I'm in the same county as you and I'm an entry level position and get paid more than all the positions you mention. Probably would be great if you are retired or a student and don't want too many hours. Other than that, probably not the best pay.

I work for Gamestop! And I am starting to F'ing hate it! I am an ASL " assistant store leader" I get paid 10.61 an hour. GS is changing way to much I feel A whole lot of stress coming down from corporate that is not Worth it. My numbers are awesome my store is lucrative but I only get 73 hours?? Not to mention the GA position is soon to be extinct. I used to love this job but it's getting to the point were they're trying to change the way we talk to customer. We are being micromanaged! On top of that I'm selling think geek and cricket with no commission!

I loved working there when I started as well. But they alienate their customers and employees. They make changes no one wants, I was very happy when I got out of there.

I worked for EB a decade ago and I never got a pay bump as a Key holder. When I became an ASM I was told I would make $12 an hour, but ended up making $10.81. I wasn't going to say exactly what I got paid, but I thought it was strange that it was close to your pay and both ended with one cent. I wonder if there's a reason for that.

Last November I started as a "Seasonal Game Advisor" (SGA) and was making $9.50 an hour and was told I'd be working 8 hours a week or so maybe less. Ended up being the manager walked out and quit a week later and another SGA quit and I was working 32 hours a week getting calls everyday asking if I can work. I worked a lot, learned a lot, not a bad experience, the new temporary manager was cool but basically thought I was stealing and then one day didn't schedule me so I called in a few days after and another SGA answered and put my manager on who said the seasonal thing was over. Mind you this was in the beginning of January. Now I make a lot more money, like my job, and heard that the GameStop I worked for is having huge problems. Rip in peace. I'm free to answer questions.

Well, I was at GS as a GA about 10 years ago. I was able to get 40hrs, due to starting at a new store with no YTD, and even after that, my numbers were high enough to be the only GA getting full time, AND first dibs on scheduling. Ironically GS is the only job I didn't mind working a weekend, but didn't have to, and any time you wanted off someone would be GLAD to pick up the shift. But yeah, pay was junk, I was a GA, who has had to take keys home multiple time(NOT a 3rd key) and even had to security check an asst manager- at the behest of another ASM on his last night and take his keys(standing infront of cam doing a shakedown-, but I also had him do me and told him it was something new we were just staring. Whether he bought it or not, I dont know. I was making 8.50 as a GA in Ohio 10 years ago, my ASM left his info on the screen one time and it was 11 for him. That wouldn't be bad at the time depending. I would assume if the same difference existed to SM, I would assume it was 14-15, which back then wouldn't have been bad. I was there about 2 years, started off at about 7.50. Sounds like what I made was better than average for a GA, and my raises were heftier from the vids I have been watching. Unless people are exaggerating to make a point. But again, it's been 10 years, and I know things are worse for them, simply due to how game sales work these days. Half of a GS store are figures, and shirts, anymore. Personally I get games from anywhere else myself...midnight launch? Go to Walmart ask the guy in electronics...no line. Overall, still the only job I loved to go to, going to work wasn't a drag. It wasn't the romanticized thing that people that don't work there think it is, but my store was pretty laid back, and even though I sold well, as a GA, there was no real pressure to do so. Win, win. I did eventually need to leave for money. Comparatively today, I wouldn't even look at the money even GS store manager makes, especially because of this video seems like these figure are more current, and if that's so, they haven't been adjusted for inflation. 15/hr was better in 2008 than it is in 2018. If a SM makes that today, forget about it. My current job just told my dept that we are going to make a TON less than we do now, because of a structure change, and I was offered $16/hr at another place(obviously I put out resumes ASAP), and that's not even worth entertaining. SM's at GS have a LOT of pressure, and can be moved to shit stores if they dont succeed, or canned, of course. That's too much when there are jobs where you can be low on the totem pole and make 75% more than that. Hell, GOV'T jobs come to mind, you're unfireable and even if you start at a low wage, you end up making in the 20's/hr with a union and a pension. No point in it. As I said, due to my circumstances, I loved working at GS, but I love money even more. Gamestop is not going to pay for the cars that are on my channel. LOL

The years I worked for Walmart and GameStop my pay was good at GameStop and great at Walmart. Left Walmart making $18.80 hourly and as an Assistant Store Manager. GameStop I was an SGA or 3rd key and left making $10.25 hourly. I wouldn't manage any store for $14 an hour.

That's not acceptable. No Gamestop Manager would survive in California with $14/hr. I made more than $16/hr as a GameStop manager when I worked there. Now I make more than that with less performance pressure, and I (as well as all my 24 FT employees) have the opportunity to bonus every month. GameStop only bonuses the manager and that's on a good year for the store, so if you didn't meet requirements you would have to try again...for a year.

Im in CA and I make 14/hr as a security guard unarmed. Granted, Im sure where you are the average one bedroom is maybe 600-700 or so. Where as here its roughly 900+ Depending on where you are. I worked at a gamestop once and it was really just kind of a nuisance rather than an actual job. I worked like 6 hours a week. I forgot almost everything I was trained on because the manager showed me the menus one time and sent me on my way. Then Id forget it because I would go 5 days without any hours. I quit after a month. At least the manager was some hot latina girl in her mid 20s.

+Back Pocket Game Reviews GA=good part time job to supplement income especially if you are a gamer (employee discount and "checkout" program) SGA=Worst position to have in the company as far as responsibility and poor pay goes ASM=Great job to have *if* you have a good SM with great leadership skills and the ability to prepare you for a possible promotion SM=You are in a position where the pay usually does not make up for the responsibility and pressure put on you......though if you are lucky enough to have a good DM and RM it can be an incredible job and the Annual Conference and Bonus is a big plus.......but there are a lot of *ifs* ......again just my two cents lol ;)
