Dan said that when he was a kid and first heard John Schlitt and Petra, he knew he wanted to be a singer like him. John was his inspiration. It was a dream come true for them to sing together. The joy of the Lord was apparent. Thank you for your words of encouragement throughout.

I grew up listening to and loving both Petra and Stryper. Still love them. Both groups still are touring after 40 & 50 yrs and sound pretty darned good, especially for their ages. John Schlitt & John Lawry are also part of the Jay Sekulow Band (ACLJ) along with former frontman for Kansas, John Elefante. All are Christians and sound great. They did a song by Styx and the actual band liked it enough to post it on their site. I loved seeing Dan get to sing this with the very guys who influenced his decision to become a singer. The absolute joy is clear all over his face.

Petra has always been a "thing" in my family, because of my six kids. My youngest girl's husband also was (and still is) a Petra fan. Judi is turning 38 in August, and Dan will turn 34 in October, so it's not too surprising that he got hooked on Petra early on, since he was also (as a teen and upward) working with his family's church's worship group, during the years that my own kids were doing the same thing.😀 Our whole family (for generations backward, and will be for generations forward) is full of musicians and singers, and most of us have also been involved with church bands and choirs a LOT. It's so much fun when we get together (whether in smaller or larger groups) and start singing hymns and choruses, as well as a lot of other stuff--including the "silly songs" that have come down through our family for generation upon generation. We just love music...period. Judi and I are especially loving Dan's music these days. There is one line in this song that made me think of you specifically: “He who has begun this work won’t let it go.” I do so admire your dedication to your faith and the obvious joy you take in it. Whatever our beliefs the world needs more like you, willing to be open and honest in a time when there is far too little of that.❤ For September, I’d like you to hear a Canadian group, Crash Test Dummies, doing Superman’s Song. I’ll send a link to the video in Reactr. 😊 Oops, I said at Reactr that Superman was released in 1998, but it was 1991, 32 years ago. Someone commented that they saw this done live in Kansas City last month and the entire audience sang the whole song with the CTD.
