Hey everyone, I started a channel which documents Dark Cloud content. The Compendium focuses on spotlighting the changes that Dark Cloud went through when in development as well as spotlighting some obscure information about our favorite Georama RPG! This channel is made by fans for the fans to celebrate Dark Cloud's 20th Anniversary! The Compendium is home to a myriad of exclusive video content such as never before seen English translations of Dark Cloud material that was previously Japan only, Debug Discs, Interviews with Level 5 staff regarding Dark Cloud's development as well as videos detailing Dark Cloud's Beta and Cut content. ***** No excuse, this game was nothing short of greatness (although it does have a few problems). It probably only didn't do well because Kingdom Hearts came out literally the next year and because of Disney and Square Enix being involved, it obviously got a lot more attention and praise.

I've actually picked up the game again recently, and it's amazing. Minus the camera and the controls being a little stiff, this game is fantastic. I actually got it as a pack in when I first got my PS2

Dark Cloud was the best game EVAR! definitely in my top 10 games of All time. It was the Skyrim of the day for me, spent 100s of hours on it.

With the incredible success of Yokai Watch, I'm honestly hoping Level-5 revisits Dark Cloud and Dark Cloud 2, atleast in some way. It'd be awesome if they made an HD remake for the both of them next year, to celebrate the 15th birthday of the first one.

I remember the first game I had ever played was The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Once I had beaten it, I went to Gamestop and asked the clerk for a game similar to Zelda and he gave me Dark Cloud. Still one of the greatest and most memorable games I've played to date.

This was the first game I ever played. I didn't buy a memory card until 2 years later, because I was really young, and since the dungeons were randomized I didn't notice I was repeating the same thing over and over again. My original disc got really scratched, so I could only play up to the moon level. I think Dark Cloud 2 is much better, but I would have preferred it if weapons completely broke in Dark Cloud 2 instead of temporarily breaking. It removed all of the tension.

It would be AWESOME if DC3 was a prequel to the first game. Toan’s father is only mentioned once in the game when you talk to some of the villagers in Muska Lacka, and they say that his father (Aga) was preparing for Toan’s journey 20 years before, meaning he must have known something about the Dark Genie. The prequel would basically be Aga prepping Toan’s journey for him.

This brings back great memories from my childhood, since I grew up with it. It was easily my favorite game ever, and still one of them, although I haven't been able to play it for years upon years, seeing the gameplay of it brought it all back and I was even able to recognize a lot of it, from the beginning title screen movie to just the plain old fighting, and I really wish I could play it again. But that part that sucks is I don't know if I ever will since I don't have my PS2 anymore :\

Hope you got those tissues handy. I expect that midway through the PS4's life, all the IPs created on the PS3, will have either had one game on the PS4, or won't get one at all. Sony likes to dump their IPs. Shame, too. Considering Dark Cloud 3 would be amazing, even on the PS3. With that in mind, I didn't care much for either games in the series. Though the second had some killer voice acting (Mark Hamill was in it. Can't remember who he voiced, though...)

Level 5 are notorious for changing their games drastically from their betas. The best example of this is with White Knight Chronicles....or White Knight Story as it was known back then. Take a look, it is so different to what we actually got! Also, yeah, this was Sony taking on the Zelda format, but it wasn't the first time they did so. They attempted it back on the PSone through Matrix Software and their Sony funded game - Alundra. Which, in my opinion, is the best attempt they have ever made at topping Zelda.

It looks like an awesome game for sure to play. Those were some interesting differences in the beta compared to the final version. Especially the flying carpet. I would of definitely wanted to see that in the final form but oh well. Great stuff as always!:)

Gods yes an HD collection would be amazing! I would only ask for one change. In Dark Cloud 2, take advantage of the time theme and let us replay past events to pick up missable pictures and items. The OCD in me needs this.

Dark Cloud is one of the many games that I grew up with as a child. I loved it. The Genie and a few of the other enemies in the game gave me nightmares, but I still played the game because it was SOOOOOO addicting! I loved it so much. I didn't really play it's sequel too much, but it was so awesome.

Dark Cloud 1 was one of the first games I played where you could switch between 1st-person and 3rd-person view. All you youngsters take that for granted now, but back in the day, shit was ground-breaking!

I know how you feel. One day I was playing Dark Cloud 2 in my room, I had just finished clearing out the enemies in an area of Starlight Canyon. Suddenly my mother came in and told me to pause for a second, to which I did. She had started telling me something had happened, I immediately thought the worst. She had explained to me that my father had killed himself. To this day I can never forget what my mother told me nor the slightly depressing theme playing in the background.

i had such an amazing childhood with this game. when i was little after i had just beaten ocarina of time for the first time i went to my local blockbuster when they were still around and i asked the guy at the desk for a game that was like zelda in the sense of adventure and dungeons and puzzles. he showed me this game and i immediately thought toan looked alot like link.(i was little) and i got it and took it home. i fell in love with it that night and bought it the next day.

I'm just thankful Level-5 hasn't thrown away the georama mechanic as it's seen in a lot of their newer games (Rogue Galaxy, White Knight Chronicles, etc.) but I agree, I would LOVE a DC3! Also, you sound like you'd make a great VA for Karkat from Homestuck! :D

Omfg. This guy. He feels the same way as me about Dark Cloud. I was porn 1997, my mom use to be a gamer when I was little. She got both the Dark Clouds when they 1st came out. They were my favorite games when I was little and to this day they are still my favorite. Where the fuck is Dark Cloud 3. Hell, I would be happy even if they polished up this beta and then put it on the market as Dark Cloud 3. It's still something to let us know they haven't forgotten about the series.

the no jump does kinda make since, probably during the beta, they hadn't programmed in the dungeons (which is why theres not combat beta), so they had spare buttons, but during dungeons, there was no spare buttons, triangle opens the menu (never understood that) O locks on, Square uses an item, X attacks, DPad selects item, L/R 1/2 moves camera, select is the quick switch, and start... just pauses... seriously, why does START not open up a menu while TRIANGLE does!

I like the DC franchise. It reminds me of Yokai Watch for the 3DS. It must have a Switch and PS4 HD remake collection with the jumping.
