The problem with Win10 is they were struggling to force us onto the store and we worked out easy way round telemetry. Make no mistake Win11 will collect more days than ever, and be fully locked down. It'll be more like MacOS than ever with a focus on farming your data. I'll be using Linux.

Now it's just style over substance / how to clone macosx / how to take the power from the user / how to restrict and dumb down and make it as simple and easy as possible for the premium noobs of our generation / how to get/bound ppl into the MS ecosystem and all its services / how to make them buy apps and shit and use bing to watch our ads .... I would like to puke. I really hope tools like 7TT+ and Open-Shell continue to work and the legacy Win32 shell and all the cpls gonna stick around and be accessible somehow and ppl like Russovich and many others continue to create useful tools to disable all the bullshit and actually _improve_ the workflow ...else it's really time to go fully Linux for _everything_ than games.

Yeah virtual desktops isn't anything new. Windows 10 already tries and mostly succeeds with rearranging icons to original positions when you unplug a monitor (but not when it's shut off!!). Hopefully that's something they add. Super frustrating when all your new windows open on your second monitor that's not even turned on

@@Kvatch1 I had that problem to because my desktop wouldn't know the monitor is off or on over HDMI but once I started connecting by DisplayPort it's worked great, windows recognizes when the monitor is off and won't open stuff on there.

I liked Windows 95 because folders were actually HTML pages, each with it's own hidden editable file. You could edit these files to customize your folders with background images and custom links.

Oh man I can’t wait to dig through another generation of interface to find the basic sound card settings. So we will now have a windows 11 interface over a windows 10/8 interface, over windows XP interface to get the basic sound settings in a windows 95 looking panel. I don't think the mobile look is the problem. It's about the usability and the functionality. You have buttons on a keyboard and a bunch of stuff in wide spaces, mainly that's how workflow is achieved. So if it behaves like a mobile it's bad to work on other than typing emails. Also yes a bit, mobile look is not nice on monitors.

I set my taskbar in KDE to close programs when I middle click them. I find inverting what the browser does to be quite odd. Besides the only program window I have more than one instance of is Chrome, which I prefer to get with Ctrl+N.

you would think that, look reality is if you want less resource usage go use linux, but seriously microsoft has made design decisions that while work for them in the long run may hurt em as well, including stuff like backwards compatibility... reality is they are commited to backwards compatibility (in my opinion this is bad but ok), i have seen companies run ms-dos programs(not ms-dos style but programs made in ms-dos days) on windows 10

Always had 10% cpu usage on idle even after I ran ALL KINDS OF SHIT to remove background tasks. Then I tried running windows LTSC on trial mode and holy shit it gets 0-2% cpu usage on idle all the time.

@@HoloScope officially yes, but you can get around all of those limitations (and even install on legacy BIOS) by using the windows 11 install.wim in a windows 10 iso. that way you're using the windows 10 setup to install it (since it's only an artficial limitation: microsoft created TPM and they're also big perponents of secure boot because it keeps normies from downgrading windows or installing linux or other OSes, which means it keeps them making money.)

And hid more features. As a professional working with Audio, you find that you have to change settings sometimes and windows 10 changed the location of the output mixer. It use to be that you right clicked and hit "speakers." It takes 4 menus now though. I feel as we move on the advanced settings get dug deeper and deeper into the OS and you have to be a power user to operate it to the extent one might need. Apple fixed this by allowing you to just type "Midi" in their search engine, which is a industry standard word.

It adds a replacement sound icon in your taskbar and one left click allows you to mix per app volume, while right click allows you to set the default device and a quick way to go to the windows 7 sound settings should you need them (I wouldn't blame you, the w10 sound settings are horrible)

@@leo6659 as a uix designer this is a basic concept of design, a good ui is the one that can do everything, and be simple while being useful for advanced users, the centered icons, they can be set to sides (tested the w11 build myself) so that's great, more options, but the mouse click? i mean its just worse for no reason, its a beta version but there's just "the easy way", leave the old desktop ui as an option, remember all the classic shell users? yea it clashes with the overall OS design but.. this is an OS so, utility>>>being fancy, all the macOS wannabe.. WHY, if i wanted a mac.. i would buy a mac. Just give options, and the "settings pannel" i've never seen a worse design, its meant for touch devices, sry but specially nowdays when ppl is getting bigger and bigger displays everywhere, laptops included.... the old control pannel was smaller and clearer while having all the options accesible.

I would just like to say that the delay in typing response could be the fact that you didn't install the USB package extension for virtual box. Making the drivers for USB devices act a lot less desirable then they should be.

@@markstevens7699 did they learn nothing from Windows 8? Optimizing a desktop environment for a touchscreen should be optional. If I don't have a touchscreen attached, why should my computer be optimized for it? Being "intuitive to use" is irrelevant if it destroys the knowledge and muscle memory of the existing userbase, and actually makes it unintuitive. Now. If this was gonna be a dedicated tablet or ARM version of Windows, that would be great, but if they're intending to replace our desktop environment with one that looks like it's what the iPad Pro *SHOULD* be running, I'll pass.

I dont like windows 10, all the players crashed in division 2 except me. So I played the whole mission solo while 3 players kept crashing.

@@fynkozari9271 hardware and drivers can cause crashes too. I am not sure you know, but The Division 2 has caused quite a lot of people problems when using DirectX 12 mode, even those with top hardware. The game just doesn't like that, and you can't blame Windows for game code problems. So please look into that before blaming whatever feels convenient.

Not really, this is just another windows 10 upgrade that will be deployed in the enterprise in much the same way as other upgrade versions. Enterprise Configuration Manager (a.k.a. SCCM)will just treat it as another .wim to deploy. This is all about marketing and possibly an excuse to charge people but means little else. In addition, mostly in enterprise you are upgrading to N-1, so this won't be for a long while yet that we even care, but as I said even then we won't.

I doubt you even have to work that hard to do that. Add more features and do it in a way that isn't optimized very well over and over and you can slow any hardware down without any malice.

Gimicks are always a thing on MS software, but let's be honest, since the first stable Win10 version to today, things have improved a lot, and in the last year they have even improved memory management of the core OS Now don't expect Win11 to be night and day in any aspect, it will be a regular free update from Win10 and it will mostly be a reskin

Fun Windows 11 Fact: If you log in as the admin user (using the login screen command prompt trick, or other methods), you’ll find the Windows 10 GUI is still alive & well in this build of “Windows 11”. Really, Windows 11 so far is just Windows 10 with an additional new UI style.
