I went to Pointe du Hoc in Normandy. How these men actually climbed and took over this place is incredible. The main bunker on the point was a low to the ground one, used for shooting out their legs when they got up there. Still got the original barbed wire and bunkers

@kamilo321123 no, this is point du hoc, they didnt attack omaha with ladders, they had to scale the cliff edge with ladders on point du hoc, omaha they went through/over the bunkers.

The Graphics aren't "poor", they are "OK", and the game is great and fun. Graphics count for a very small part of the pie that is how good a game is

I recently bought Osprey Publishing's book on Omaha Beach and Pointe du Hoc and it shows maps of the various sectors of both places and they actually did an impressively accurate recreation of the area as it looked at the time. The only changes they made were removing Le Guay (possibly for preserving RAM), moving the grove where the guns were found a little closer to Le Guay than they actually were, and shortening the distance between the coastal road and the farmhouses on the Pointe.

+Nick Klette I've been there, and I was able to retrace the character's steps around. The huge craters and bunkers are very well replicated in the game.

In real life there were only about 225 rangers for this mission. CoD makes it seem like there were 10,000.

Yes it does. The guy in the boat vomiting. The soldier passing out by a bomb just after the landing and the dude waking him up. The medic carrying a wounded gets reached by the MG42. It's same mission, thant the movie, and they were inspired by the movie. Same thing happend in Call Of Duty 1 in the mission of volga river, it looks like Enemy At The Gates.

ive been to point du hoc, incredible place, i suggest u go if u ever find urself in Normandy, its riddeled with craters and bunkers, the bunkers that wernt blown up u can go walking through, though i highly suggest u bring a torch or ull find urself tripping and slipping all over the place. seriously go to point du hoc

@stillraining12 in real life the rangers lost 40 men taking only the cliff. securing it waiting for rienforcements they lost even more and the germans were cheap fighters too they would wait until the rangers were about 70 feet up(100 foot tall cliff) and then cut the rope some soldiers just took out thier kinfe and climbed by stabbing the cliff

Saving Pvt. Ryan isnt the most accurate movie is mostly hollywood blockbuster with exception of first minutes of Normandy landings that are very well made the rest of movie is your typical blockbuster of men teaming up even few and can defeat the larger enemy. An enemy that was non other than the Elite Waffen SS division during the war the Germans were outnumbered and resisted with all they got not the other way around if you want realistic movie check Thin Red Line or Trumpets Fade a

They were brave men but the point of saving is very subjective the Germans "save" people from Communist Opression in East and were received with cheers and flowers by local populace such places like Ukraine Estonia Latvia etc. On same way Americans and British were received in France. All soldiers from the various sides in this war were brave but saing either side was good and bad is very simplistic way of seing history and is comptly wrong.
