One thing that irritates me is when they have this poor to princess thing going on because this character was adopted or stolen, and when almost all the time, the adoptive parents are portrayed as terrible people. First, it paints adoption as a negative thing,and invalidates the family (when not written as terrible people) that raised them when saying "real" parents. Secondly, it makes the story completely driven on your lineage when the story goes "here you go! Meet your *real* parents who made no clear attempts to find you and they didn't raise you because somehow the castle is unprotected. You shall instantly accept princess-life and forget the life before!"

About the whole Alpha thing.
