I liked this game back in the day when it was new, the Finnish gaming magazines made it into a pretty big deal which isn't surprising for a Finnish game like this. You should definitely check out the standalone expansion Shadowgrounds Survivor, it has some nice highly polished action in it.

For anybody interested, You can fix the distortion issue (And enable textures on water again) by completely disabling Anti-Aliasing in the "Advanced" settings located in the launcher for the game. Hope this will be of help :)

I love the Shadowgrounds games. Survivor is my favorite of the two, and I still play it from time to time. I just wish we'd get a third one eventually, let alone anything in that universe which I found quite interesting.

I love it when obscure games are given a spotlight in the form of a youtube video, I'm sure in the future somebody is gonna see shadow grounds on steam and check google to see if anybody has written anything on it. I hope they find this video. Seems like a quaint little game.

I remember entering the contest in my local gaming magazine where you had to give names to the enemy types in the game. I managed to win that contest and received the soundtrack CD and a mini-maglite :)

This game deserved a proper remaster. It's almost unplayable in current state without proper widescreen support and even mouse sensitivity slider.

U should review "Severance: Blade of Darkness" at some point in time. Honestly a hidden gem from 2001. The intro music from Shadowgrounds reminded me of it. Basically the first souls-like, before souls-likes were invented. U will need dgVooDoo2 to play it on Win10 but yeah, works on my system.

A friendly comment here: it sounds to me like you have quite a bit of excess sibilance in your voice track. In particular some of your 's' or 'ts' sounds are quite sharp and harsh. You could probably get rid of most of it by using a 'darker' mic (one that is less sensitive to the upper-mid/high range) or by simply repositioning the mic further away from your mouth and at an angle. Or if that's not an option, any decent audio editor should have some sort of de-esser plug-in to fix this issue. There are plenty of online resources available that explain this much better than I could. I know this isn't the usual sort of KZbin comment and it's likely that some people may not even notice it, but I'm convinced that taking care of this would make your voiceovers much more pleasing to the ear. I played this game just recently. I am annoyed by it. The game doesnt give out enough ammo so your always forced to use the boring pistol. My xbox 360 controller wont work with this game. If the game gave out more ammo this could be a fun game. Not to mention the resolution in the base game is 1024 by 768. The user needs to change this in a info game file for widescreen support to work. I would never recommend this game to anyone its to much of a mess. There are only 4 upgrades possible for each weapon. I am 2 hours into this game and I have maxed out every weapon. Doesn't really matter because the pistol is the only weapon your going to use in this game most of the time.
