Alien basically ate Baraka, and going with good ol' Alien lore, that means Alien now has aspects of Baraka, and in this case it's his arm blades (Alien never had arm blades before, not like it needed them to kill someone). At least one variant will have that, sort of how Kitana now encompasses Jade with that, what's it called, Royal Storm or something, thing. But it's not like anyone has a Rain variant.

1) Bred as warriors FOR the gods. Perhaps their champions, like Lui Kang and Kung Lao were Raiden's. 2) A power from a human that could challenge an Elder god and is only used a deus ex machina. 3) Quan Chi should have spent those 20 years in learning how harness that power. Regarding Sindel, I would say her power is significantly lowered because when she killed most of the main cast, she was imbued with the soul(s) of Shang Tsung. When Nightwolf obliterated her with his final actions, they were separated from her core essence. Also, as shown when Johhny almost became a revenant, it doesn't use their physical form, just their soul. Sindel returned to her basic power levels. Also, perhaps Quan Chi doesn't control their souls, but instead their mind and flesh, the soul inable to overcome this because it isn't their natural bodies but retaining their memories and abilities.
