If not for his tragic assassination, Sri Lanka will be quite different today. He was almost the perfect leader. He had everything that a great leader should have. He had a good personality, proven achievements, good in all three main languages, International recognition, good family background, familied and he had vision. He was also handsome and accepted by all levels of Society. Extremely able as demonstrated by completing Mahaweli project in 7 years.

This clueless politician was the one orchestrated the attack on Jaffna library as well as involved in Indo-lanka IPKF treaty that sold the country to India, as these people were also behind the 1983 July attacks on Tamils in Colombo. This guy and JRJ were terrible politicians of their times. These corrupt politicians brought out the degeneration of the country with the style of politics and economics they brought to the island in 1980's. However, he was in favor of military defeat of LTTE and it's leader at the time of his assassination, hence the reason for his assassination by LTTE. Disanayake and his colleagues of UNP started the dark era of heavily corrupt dirty politics in Sri Lanka. Disanayake was most definitely no hero and most definitely not missed, but acknowledge these kind of politicians were just the product of those times.
