I think the clear one is for compressing the spring, so the tightest is equivalent to the yellow nuts, and the loosest is equivalent to the purple nuts. And the blue thing is like tightening/loosening the nuts.

I have my first comp tomorrow, and guess what???? A GENERATOR in the back of my van tipped over onto my laptop case, where I have my Valk. Laptop is unscathed, but my Valk has a busted corner piece. So I order a corner piece an ENTIRE week early, and it still hasn't gotten here -_______- oh well, I have a back up(ish) not nearly as good as my Valk, but it'll have to do.

My core of the 357 has never broken after many many years of use. Also, I don't feel the X is that quiet. It's no where near as quiet as the TengYun, or even the Gan SM. This is a thinner puzzle and resonates more. It's a bit louder.

Not even close. It's actually quite loud comparatively. If someone wants a quiet puzzle that is a Gan cube the 356 V2 would be one of the better bets because of the metal screws in the pieces.

When I first got the 356 X it seemed like the quietest cube and I still like the sound. It's been heavily used as my main. My stock SM now you mention it has barely been touched and turns like new does sound relatively quiet. I should test this again, maybe age has a factor or lube.

I use the same settings. I kept having corner twist and some how edge twist with the gan x and xs. I'll finish a solve and two edges are in the wrong place. The yellow green & yellow orange. In each others spot. I don't know how it happens but this puzzle it happens the most on...

This is my concern too. Also do I prefer lighter of heavier cubes, I use my X over my SM but the better I get the better the SM feels, I prolly need to tweak the X again. I love how it grows as you do.

I took apart my XS to clean and re-lube it. Once finished I put it together and used setting 4 on the numerical travel nut and 6 on the tension nut. Now it doesn't corner but past like 40 degrees. Any ideas on what I could've done to ruin its corner-cutting performance?

Corner cutting doesn’t just suddenly change, the pieces have not adjusted their shape. Just make the tensions all even and re-set up how you like.

How is the spring stiffness in the gan xs? Is it close to the green nut or the yellow nut of the gan x? I found the yellow nut too stiff in the gan x and went back to the green which was less stiff than i would have liked.

100% false. He might have just had slightly different tensions or lubrication. Always remember that more corner cutting does NOT mean better performance. Often you want to lessen the corner cutting.

I don’t feel the X is that smooth compared to previous models like the SM. The XS is thinner plastic so has a more hollow sound to it. Extra lube could help create a softer sound.

It's hard to say the exact amount as one is a compressed spring and one is a different gauge of spring. It's similar but I cannot say if it is exactly any stronger or weaker.

So: the blue clicky things thare are like Numerical IPG adjust the center travel, how much you can pull 2 edges away from the center and how easily it corner twists. The 'pitchfork' thing that adjusts the steps that are similar to the Moyu adjustment system adjusts the spring compression, how hard the springs push on the center. in short: Numerical IPG - like things: Changes how far the centers can move. Moyu - like things: Changes how hard the centers are pressed inwards. am i right

Gan should stick to using glossy plastic. Frosted plastic makes cubes too slippery. I’d probably get the black one if I were to get this, cause atleast the stickers are glossy and grippy

Did you not ever see the GTS3M's spring compression mechanism? I recognized it immediately, they seem to have copied it & baked it into their GES system, and rightly so, as it's a great system. Really shallow review though, you don't go through how it feels at all other than the weight (which is due to them using an arguably inferior material in the core), & blanket suggest the XS because of ease of customization when the X is just as easy to customize.

Cubes are having more and more customization for feelz. It doesn't look like the price is getting any cheaper or coming down for the newer innovations. Even though the 356 xs gives a wide range of feelz, most experienced speedcubers will stay within a very narrow range for the customization settings. Is it worth it for the money? I would say only as an engineering masterpiece and conversation starter. Is it gonna' make speedcubers even better? That all depends on the speedcuber and their skillz especially with staging and tuning prep. The MSRP in Canada is gonna' be $86 Canuck buck. That's a pretty hefty price to pay for a uber customizable 3x3. Is there a comparable cube in terms of much cheaper without compromising or diminishing performance significantly? I'm sure there is. It is just a matter of somebody to do a comparison as a benchmark. $86 is a lot to pay for a speedcube. Only the very elite and exclusive may be initiated to be able to acquire it. For most hobbyists the price will be beyond their reach unless they go all in.
