When I learned GanaBlade was released by the same developer as G Warrior (my most recent clear), I definitely wanted to check it out.
GanaBlade is a vertical shooter (aka shmup / STG), which I tend to struggle with compared to most other genres of games. I found it to be very approachable, easy to understand the mechanics, and rewarding to learn.
Veterans of vertical STG, danmaku or Tohou games will find this game on the easy side - at least on default "Normal" difficulty (which I played on). I have yet to check out Hard mode and the hidden third Type C ship type that you unlock (by pressing J and L on the keyboard when Type A is highlighted at the ship selection screen).
I chose the Type B ship due to it's "2" weapon doing really good damage, while also having a nice "Power" shot that cancels bullets easily. When you have Options, your ship shoots homing shots that are great for picking off weaker popcorn enemies off to the sides or behind you.
I didn't dive too deep into the scoring mechanics of the game, but there is definitely "milking" opportunities if you choose to do so. Using the Power shot when there's a lot of bullets to be absorbed will change them into score items. Also, most blue bullets on screen when you kill an enemy will be transformed to score items. Waiting until certain enemies shoot before taking them out gives the game a nice risk / reward system for those wanting to learn it.
At only 5.00 to purchase on Steam, I would definitely recommend GanaBlade to anyone wanting a fun and approachable shmup to try.
