Ganaraska Clean Up Illegal Fishing Port Hope October 1, 2023

Great reporting once again Pete. Wish we had more CO’s out there to put an end to this illegal activities that are happening not only in Port Hope but across all Lake Ontario rivers and streams. It’s sad to see all the garbage and fishing line left behind by these people. A lot of Ganny has been closed off to public fishing because of people leaving trash behind and destroying property. It’s not hard to bring a small garbage bag with you and put all your coffee cups and trash in in and dispose it in the garbage.

Why did the ministry put these big fish in our small rivers and creeks. They totally destroyed the speckle trout and brown trout that used to be in these prestene waters .The only place to catch these fish is out in Lake Ontario, throwingbaits in these shallow water is a crime!

@@albertlovshin7791 They were put in to control alewife populations that were washing up on the shoreline. Don't hate salmon fishermen or the fish, hate the people who destroy the fishery.

Where are the conservation officers they should be there cleaning out all those snagging the salmon what chance do the fish have when they are stacked up in the shallows they should be enforcing the regulations

Where are the game wardens?! ...this is a low hanging fruit...it would take little to no effort to apprehend these obvious and blatant poachers which are stealing from honest and legal fisherman! 😡 Keep up the great work bringing attention to this regular recurring problem Pete! 👍 Great to see the army of volunteers cleaning up the mess from the inconsiderate hoard of poachers and polluters! Thank you to all the volunteers that took the time to try and make things better!

Wait a minute it's October first the river is closed above CNR bridge why people are allowed to fish there

No extended season goes to the driving bridge like 100 feet up from the train bridge . There is a vote going on right now that might shut down the river from train bridge to Jocelyn street from September 1st to October 14th but could also extend the extended season limits from the train bridge up to Jocelyn street from October 15th to December 31st

Will never happen, but there is a legitimate mnr "survey " more of a vote if u ask me to change the regulations big time there that would probably make u much happier and is about as close as u will get to shutting the salmon fishing down , the voting ends on August 22nd hurry and vote
