Things are not black & white in Politics & Gandhi was a politician in addition to his personal experiments with non violence & truth. Yes he had a large community of muslims to also think about who were already being aggravated & agitated by both British (with their divide & rule) & Jinnah (with his personal ambitions). His goal was independence for India (the whole India & not what resulted with partition). His sayings & doings must be seen through that lens.
