Yes GURU helped to keep the intelligent rapper cool. But the first rapper to REALLY make it cool to be INTELLIGENT, RIGHTEOUS, AND STREET at the SAME TIME was the rapper that influenced GURU, and that rapper's name was RAKIM. Yes, RAKIM was one of the BIGGEST GAME CHANGING RAPPER when it comes to LYRICISM, FLOW, INTELLIGENCE, SWAGGER, and RIGHTEOUS PRINCIPLES being combined with STREET TALK. That's why they call him the GOD MC.

solar's HEAD WILL BE ROLLING INTO PRISON IN A YEAR OR 2 FROM NOW . YOU CAN WATCH THE VIDS from all those years ago of his nephew KEVIN RUFF ( his channel by the same name ) talking about how solar WOULD NOT ALLOW ANY of the LOVED ONES OF GURU to see him when he was IN a COMA . There's a lot more to the story and many of us know he poisoned he did something to pour Guru to put him in that state and basically TOOK HIS LIFE .

Then you can also look up this article it will come up if you type in something like : " BROWN MAN TALKS of G.U.R.U . of GANG STARR " in the BOSTON PHOENIX . The article will come up and when you read it you get a very clear picture of what a creep and what a control freak and narcissist if not sociopath , solar is . Every dog has its day and solar is going to have his own bed, bite him really hard in his A$$ .

I was 14 when this came out. But my very first time seeing this video was in the late 2010's. I watched MTV and BET but they don't show every video from a popular rapper or groups. I'm a "dinosaur" when it comes to trying to catch up to stuff I've never seen before. I like both versions of this song and video. There's a John Waddel uptempo version of this song and video as well. It's just as good. He's a balanced MC. He'll make songs for the ladies and he definitely makes songs for the streets too. Guru can rap off of any beat you give him but Premier's beats brings out the best in him!
