Yes GURU helped to keep the intelligent rapper cool. But the first rapper to REALLY make it cool to be INTELLIGENT, RIGHTEOUS, AND STREET at the SAME TIME was the rapper that influenced GURU, and that rapper's name was RAKIM. Yes, RAKIM was one of the BIGGEST GAME CHANGING RAPPER when it comes to LYRICISM, FLOW, INTELLIGENCE, SWAGGER, and RIGHTEOUS PRINCIPLES being combined with STREET TALK. That's why they call him the GOD MC.

I was 14 when this came out. But my very first time seeing this video was in the late 2010's. I watched MTV and BET but they don't show every video from a popular rapper or groups. I'm a "dinosaur" when it comes to trying to catch up to stuff I've never seen before. I like both versions of this song and video. There's a John Waddel uptempo version of this song and video as well. It's just as good. He's a balanced MC. He'll make songs for the ladies and he definitely makes songs for the streets too. Guru can rap off of any beat you give him but Premier's beats brings out the best in him!
