@@Lijsavv You’re correct. This scene is actually based on that incident and the dude who played Cyril, Derrontay McClendon, is actually the one who did it. The story was when he was 16, he was gang banging. A dude he knew from elementary school threw some gang signs at him while he was with his mom but he let it go. A couple of days later, Derrontay and his friend got into a car accident in a McDonalds parking lot coincidentally with the same dude and his friend. And it pretty much played out how the scene went here. He grabbed a crowbar and smacked dude with a couple of times, nothing life threatening. He did 15 months and eventually got this role in the movie. He talked about it in his casting interview for the behind scenes.
