Los Angeles, 1949. Ruthless, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) runs the show in this town, reaping the ill-gotten gains from the drugs, the guns, the prostitutes and-if he has his way-every wire bet placed west of Chicago. And he does it all with the protection of not only his own paid goons, but also the police and the politicians who are under his control. It's enough to intimidate even the bravest, street-hardened cop...except, perhaps, for the small, secret crew of LAPD outsiders led by Sgt. John O'Mara (Josh Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling), who come together to try to tear Cohen's world apart.

People at the time didn’t get that it wasn’t trying to be serious or factually correct, it was meant to be a classic fun gangster movie (think Dick Tracy minus the colourful aesthetic and freakishly looking gangsters). I saw it opening day back in 2013 and had an absolute blast and watch it whenever I need a good fun pick me up.

Why the hell didn't I hear about this movie before!?!?! I'm not even half way in and holly crap this is a bad a$$ movie! There is a lot of bad a$$ scenes already! Love that music beat when Gosling was approaching the shooter and also when he walked into restaurant place wanting to shoot Shawn Penn. Very few movies make my heart beat like crazy and having that adrenaline rush.
