So for the longest time I put this watch in the back of my mind. I had the sub C, sub c hulk, gmt master II batman, Daytona 116520 and always avoided buying this watch because of what others said. Recently I picked up the regular black dial version, came home and took off divers extension and put 2 links in instead. THIS IS THE MOST COMFORTABLE ROLEX I ever had! I love this this thing and will never sell it. The thick crystal with the distortion is amazing, comfort is amazing and the accuracy is +1 daily and a five year warranty on top of if! What I realized is never to listen to anyone but myself and also most people are just repeating things they heard. To know if this watch fits and how it wears you have to own it and SIZE IT PROPERLY to your wrist!! Going to a boutique and flopping it on your wrist is not the proper way to make an opinion for this. Great watch!

I have one of these, 136660 and he is right, it does not wear that big. I have 7” wrists, and it is not that much bigger than the 41mm datejust. It is thick, but I like that, and have not had any issue with shirt cuffs. Occasionally have to pull the cuff over it, but no big deal at all.

I have this watch too also with a 7-1/4" wrist. You and I both have flat wrist bones so the watch doesn't feel too heavy. Some people, even with larger but rounder wrists, would be well advised to try this watch on before purchasing. Enjoy it. I love mine!

I didn't mean "too heavy", I meant top-heavy.

The depth of the piece makes the 44mm diameter more tolerable in a smaller wrist because the depth "props" it up. The ceramic bezel takes away the diameter of the watch "face" helps as well.

I have this watch and what I think is wrong with the proportions is the bracelet is too dainty for the watch. I think the latest versions have a broader bracelet and that certainly makes sense in such a chunky piece.

You are absolutely correct! This piece gets bad press for its size. Yes the case is thick, but it wears beautifully! I have tried one on my 7-1/2" wrist and it looked and felt great. It looks great, and proportional on your 7-1/4" wrist. Absolutely awesome piece!

it is a very nice watch from Rolex. I have a small wrist but I still bought one in October this year. I do not find it too heavy nor I find it unwearable. In fact, it wears very comfortable on my wrist.

Stunning watch. They fixed the lugs on the new 126660 and its better balanced all round. It still is quite top heavy and some people struggle to wear it.

Darrin, I saw on some Rolex forums where you were addressing the size of the Deep Sea. After almost 2 months waiting, I finally unboxed my DSSD-blue today!! So Exciting! I totally echo your position. From all the scuttle butt, you would think this was is huge, top heavy and unmanageable to wear. In the metal on on the wrist....I just don't get where all this is coming from. It's extremely comfortable to wear, fits just fine and is not as big and heavy as the punters claim it to be. I've been wearing the Rolex Explorer II 42 mm Polar all summer, and find the DSSD just fine.

Polar Roller agree totally with you - I own the Deepsea blue for about 6 months and it's totally comfortable. Since I have my Deepsea Blue, my GMT Master II Batman is just sitting in the box. Btw - you know it will be discontinued next year so it will be even more special in the future.

Not so , you dont need to wear the watch tight . There is so much mass that when the watch heats up from body heat it actually sticks to the wrist . To get a great fit run the watch under warm water then do the adjustment . I feel that once you get that great fit the watch just feels right and can be worn as a daily . Amazing watch , it really just looks amazing on . Im finding it hard to go back to a rolex 40 now .

Darrin, you should check out a Rubber B strap for this watch. They have them ( all black)that utilize your actual Rolex clasp and glide lock section, or a black strap with a simple tang buckle. What's cool about the straps available with the tang buckle is you can get the black strap with a small blue pin stripe running down the middle. Just a sliver of blue color that accents the dial perfectly and really pops! I contacted Rubber B to see if they were going to make a strap with the blue accent that utilizes the actual clasp and their response was their RnD was looking into this, but nothing yet. I've got a Rubber B on my Rolex Explorer II polar dial with an orange stripe, and my Rolex clasp. I love it. Still no arrival of my Deep Blue at my AD from Rolex yet......sad face

I tend towards small-ish watches (40-42mm) and thin. But a different watch = different suitability. I love the large and thick size of my Breitling and I absolutely love some of mine 38mm dress watches. In both cases the size suits them on my wrist.

Good vid. Have you had any issues with the watch catching on clothing or banging against walls because of its height? I've been thinking of a similar sized watch but the height is my main concern because I catch my current watch on clothing and have nicked the domed sapphire crystal because of its thickness and its only 14.8mm.
@DoneRightReviews
@DoneRightReviews 8 жыл бұрын
legalsolutions07... It's a terrific question, and one of the challenges of any watch this large. I was almost going to use the term "bulky," but Rolex managed to keep that from happening with curves in just the right places. Personally, I haven't had any issues bumping things. 17.7mm thick, so it is like french toast! You mentioned clothing, and if you're going to wear this with a fitted dress shirt, be sure your tailor has fitted your cuff accordingly!

In todays world, where retirees and anybody alive with a savings account ~aren't getting any interest on their nest eggs.... you have to look at a rolex as an investment and not solely for utility. I would recommend these watches(rolexes) especially short run models like the Cameron, and all sport rolexes in general as an UNWORN investment....Im talking about buying the watch with stickers and all the accouterments "BRAND NEW" and putting it away in a safe.... So not only might you sell this watch to a prospective wearer but also to investors..... ROLEX returns are historically fantastic for collectors and investors who recognize the importance of vintage specimens in pristine condition....just a thought for your marketing efforts.... Enjoyed your take!

Hey Darrin, a question: I just received my new DSSD Blue a few weeks ago. LOVE the watch and sure enjoyed your vids on the watch. I noticed on the back clasp, the section where the word "Rolex" is stamped, framed by that curly design, on my watch, this section is smooth polished metal. I assumed it would have been stamped into that recessed, frosty steel. I am wondering if your clasp has that frosty metal finish on this section. Thanks!

I love this watch. If I could get one I would go black dial as Rolex pulled most of those to change to the blue/green dials. Thus the black dial DeepSea watches will be of more value. My opinion. I do have a 2003 SeaDweller at forty mils and pushing fifteen mils is a fairly chunky watch. I saw a black dial DeepSea at a local used watch shop, it's beautiful, but the thickness just put me way off the watch. If going this way, the ceramic way, I would go forty mil redone, basic ceramic SeaDweller. But I already have one, pre-ceramic yes, so... no.

Sorry you say you have a 7.25” and you call it small? Sorry but by no means that is small. You are average, I’d say medium. Small is anything bellow 7” and big is anything above 8”. Is just that your forearm looks skinny and that’s because you probably have an ectomorph type of body (slim arms legs?). Put that in reference to the DEEPSEA which is s big watch and the outcome is normal for most wrists across the world: If you work out and lift weights your forearm will beef up and will make the watch look better on you, just my 2 cents. Regardless though, the watch looks great on you man. Congrats for the buy snd wear it in good health.
