About this item
Popular knife steel grade 440C blade - stainless steel alloy with sufficiently high hardness so that the knife can hold sharp sharpening for a long time. At the same time, it can be easily processed, and therefore the knife blade can be sharpened in the field using a small pocket tool
Folder has 440C stainless steel blade. This material belongs to the number of corrosion resistant alloys. At the same time, this alloy has 58HRC hardness. So, G729's blade remains sharp for a long time.
The shape of the blade - plain. Ganzo G729 has a smooth sharpening, this type of sharpening is considered classic and one of the most versatile
Modern classic is the knife with drop-point blade and straight sharpening. G704 folder will be enjoyed by both tourists and hunters, fishermen. G729 by Ganzo will be one of your favorite EDC knives!
G10 handle of the folder - lightweight composite material has an admirable strength. Moreover, it does not soak, does not burn out in the sun and is generally very durable

After all these years, "older" models of Ganzos still give you the best "bang for the buck" especially if you are looking for washers vs. ball bearings, 440C steel and great "borrowed" designs. Knives now, are catering to the "fidget-friendly" crowd with ball bearings rather than "water, dirt and grit-free" washers of days before. Ganzo also has newer models that are lighter, with ball-bearings and D2 steel, and its great that they still make and sell their older models.

I'm liking all my Ganzo's and I agree, great value knives. A person doesn't need anything more. They may make a better version of the Rat than Ontario does and it's cheaper. I can't speak for the PM 2 or 3, but this is a great alternative

The only place I suspect you could get a ganzo with the round hole is 2015 to 2018 range. I'm trying to be funny here, but it's probably true too

If you have the tools and the know how, that's a good plan. It's a knife you can modify with out worrying about hurting it's value too much

I have both Ganzos. Both great knives. The G732 I have is in orange and it’s my favorite. The handle design different then other Ganzos. If it had a G-Lock like the G729 it’d be perfect. Great picks as usual Rusty!

Thanks my friend. Both of these models are pretty impressive, especially for the money. I also think a g -lock would be a nice feature on the 732.

Gina, thank you for sharing. If you have not owned Ganzo before, it may require a little bit of "break in" (or a lot), but they are crazy good for the money. Enjoy

Hey my friend, I don't know if you can buy Ganzo Springs or not, but you might be able to purchase other replacement springs that will work. There are a couple videos out there on Omega Springs. Watch some of those, maybe you'll find some that work. You can purchase Omega springs as well. Here is a link for some on Amazon. I can't promise they will work or not. www.amazon.com/Pairs-Omega-Springs-Benchmade-Griptilian/dp/B096RCR67F/ref=sr_1_3?crid=PXYX00XX37K2&keywords=omega+springs&qid=1688656621&sprefix=omega+springs%2Caps%2C135&sr=8-3

I’ll just buy one, and use a round metal file to round out that hole. Spyderco and their prices, boils my blood.

Not a bad idea. I don't have a Para 2, but it's hard to imagine that knife being worth an extra $130 for the base Para 2. I do have a Para 3 lightweight, and while I do grab it a lot, the Ganzo G759 performs just as well with the cutting tasks I put before them. All the Ganzo G759 is missing is the fidget factor and it's less than $20!!

@@rustyminer Better yet, I’ll use my Dremel Tool. Yeah, Spyderco really boils my blood, charging that much for a little pocket knife. They’re nice, but they ain’t that nice.

Hey Fran, As usual, great to hear from you. When it comes to Spyderco I don't have much experience. I'd say go with the crowd. For budget the Tenacious. For something more, Endura for lockback or the Native Chief. For compression lock, the PM 2 is more to my liking based on the looks, but the PM 3 might be a better carry and just as effective. The Manix 2 can be found for the $100 range with steel that will accommodate everyday use. The Manix 2 has the ball lock, which is very similar to the axis lock. Manix 2 is a work type knife, meaning I feel like I can use it harder than the PM knives

@@rustyminer I agree with your recommendations. Interesting you mention the Native Chief. Definitely on my wish list. Would like it even better if it came with Cruwear or if I had got one of those St.Nick limited runs - love the colors ! Think you are right about the Mannix 2, I paid the extra for the blacked out version.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts as well. The Native Chief is a fine choice as well as native 5 for alternative to the PM"s Additionally, the Polestar was a contender for me, over the tenacious.

I think you're going to love it. Orange is easy to find and 440c should not rust, even in the car. I'd check on it every couple months for rust depending on where you live

@@rustyminerthat 440c ganzo uses is pretty much rust proof… I bought the ganzo Delica clone for 12 bucks for saltwater swimming; not a speck of rust. I imagine it also has to do with their near polished finish as opposed to the typical bead blast that rusts even the highly corrosion resistant 14c28n when finished in it. These ganzos also don’t break your heart and wallet if it’s lost or the blade breaks, Spyderco doesn’t replace blades under any circumstances other than defects from the factory, so if you break the tip on your 250$ Spyderco, your sol… (shitty warranty compared to other USA made competitors like benchmade, kershaw, and buck who WILL replace blades under most normal circumstances, buck will replace blades no questions asked for a price of $10 for 420hc, or $15 for s30v)

Thank you for sharing your experience. Sometimes it's the knife and sometimes it's the model/design. I have two 727m's and one is much better for action. I have 3 G704 and they are all good. I only have this one 729 and my action is "okay". I hope it gets better over time
