i have a comp2a. can 2a and 3a together work as a stereo compressor together?
@EvilPimpTheUndergroundKing3 жыл бұрын
Yeah because they are the exact same compressor they only started calling the LA2A the LA3A because they ran out of the number 2. So it was either the LA1A or LA3A and they thought 3 is greater then 1 so that's how we got the LA3A. 🙄

The problem i have is the normal mode has a lot of hiss and white noise ? the mod mode and at 50db sounds great and has better control what's up with the noise ? Unless you want a lot of hiss and shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh in your track don't use it !
@TomVDH-LaForge8 ай бұрын
Agreed, it's a gain structure thing, for all modern setups you should always stick to mod mode...

Wait theres no side mount things to put them on rack?
@GoldenAgeAudioOfficial5 жыл бұрын
We have a rack specially designed to accommodate 2 of these units, no worries!

What do you mean with a high frequency converter, I did not understand, that is, where I put the potentiometer, the compressor will act less? . I hope I have made myself understood, thank you.
@TomVDH-LaForge8 ай бұрын
The sidechain of the compressor will react differently depending how you tune its frequency response...

I have a problem, can anyone help? The VU meter is not on 0db by default It's actually going in reverse.
@7171jay3 жыл бұрын
This is proper function that the needle moves to the left when you have the meter control switch set to GR (gain reduction). This is very useful to see how much gain reduction the compressor is applying to your signal. Often just a few db is all you need but you will really hear the smoothing if you set the peak reduction knob so you are getting six or ten decibels of reduction. The other meter settings show the output of the unit. There is no meter setting for the input but if you set the output to about one and a half or two on the knob (this is nominal output with no gain reduction) doing this you can get a good rough idea of what is coming into the unit. Keep in mind that this unit has a lot of gain available on the output which means you can easily have a really hot signal coming out of it and hitting whatever is next in line after it quite hard Unless you are really crushing things and need the makeup gain much above two is a ton of output. This is a thing with LA2a style comps and is not just something that the Comp2a does. This type of compressor/limiter seems very simple as it doesn't have a lot of controls but one does need some understanding of things unique to an LA2a style comp to get good use out of it. The HF control is another somewhat deceivingly simple and subtle thing but once you work with it and truly understand it's effect on things it can be a fairly big deal on how the unit works on signal and ultimately what it does to your sound.

Bit of a correction there as the nominal setting on the Comp3a is a bit higher... like 3-4 on the gain knob when no gain reduction is present. The 1.5-2 figure is for the Comp2a. The rest of what I said (like the needle moving to the left when set to GR) does however apply to both compressors.

Golden Age is a Swedish company. From the viewpoint of a Swedish person, it is you who live in a *foreign country*. Swedes usually speak your language quite well. Would you require the company to hire native English speakers to describe their products in stead of honouring your language (foreign to Swedes) by learning and practicing it? If important fir sales, I feel sure they have the funds tondo so. I prefer producers to themselves describe use of their products in languages they hav borhered to learn. To learn and use foreign languages is of value in our world. I write in English, of course not perfect, learned English, German, French an Islandic in Norwegian high school some 60 years ago, still read English an German without discomfort, although Frenc and Islandic not so well.
