Garage Therapy /ZERO: Decontamination Shampoo | Full Review

I picked up the Garage Therapy /ZERO: Decontamination Shampoo earlier this month and and have tried it on quite a few different cars now so I wanted to make this review to share my thoughts about this shampoo. This is not a sponsored video and is an honest review of my experience and opinions after using the product.
I couldn't be without this stuff now because it's made washing other people's neglected cars tonnes easier, and also given me a solid solution to deep clean my car's paintwork before applying a sealant. Keep in mind that it's not a pH neutral shampoo, so shouldn't be used on regular maintenance washes.

Without doubt a top product, I love it. I have used it in a pre-wash through an IK multi sprayer, foam lance and traditional wash. Anyone who watches my channel will know Im a big GT fan. Im sure you will be to as you work your way through the range. Well done Heather great video👍

Definitely is top quality stuff I don’t know of another shampoo this powerful. I would highly recommended the GT wheel shampoo in a foam sprayer too that has transformed my wheel cleaning process!

Tried this shampoo over the weekend and I am very impressed! My car was absolutely filthy and I wanted to give it a deep clean before trying out Infinity Wax’s Graphene QDX. The direct sun was really baking the panels hot so I decided not to risk applying the QDX in the end. However this shampoo cleaned the clear coat SOOO well, it was just so shiny it looked like I had!☺️

great review Heather. just got some to strip lsp from the car before polishing and applying Gyeon Evo Pure ceramic coating. like you i havent got access to a garage but hoping the Cure supplied with it helps the process. Have done the Armour Shield IX before which was impressive but too fiddly to attempt again outside

Auto Care HQ I saw you had CG Clean Slate on your shelf, how does Zero Decon compare?

@@GMDetails It's night and day to be honest, Zero is by far the better one. I've found that Clean Slate doesn't do a lot in terms of stripping waxes/sealants and you have to use quite a lot in the bucket to get some decent foam and lubrication going.

You’ve hit the nail on the head there Heather, what I like about Zero is it will deep cleanse the paint and so claying isn’t needed as often. I only clay once a year at most anyway and when I do I use Zero solution as the lubricant. I like to add a small amount to regular shampoos also to give a little more bite to maintenance washes or to wash wheels. Zero isn’t just a shampoo, you can think of it more as a tool.

That’s very true. There are just loads of situations where it’s perfect for. I’ve used it on quite a few cars now but I’ve not used it as a clay lubricant yet, that’s a great idea!

Looks like Martin has said everything I want to say. I put 50 MLS in a 1L spray bottle to wash the wheels and tyres it is by far the most capable shampoo I have used. The 5L option is good VFM hopefully you will become a GT convert as well 😀

It's a really good idea trying it on the tires, I'll have to give it a go next time I give them a clean. I'll definitely be picking up a bigger bottle when I run out of this!

I am at the stage now where most things I buy come in five litre containers and I could live with five detailing manufactures and two resellers. That would include the whole process. Cheers Craig :) Yeah the zero decon shampoo is more versatile for sure. It's my favourite out of the two products because there are loads of uses for it but the snow foam is always the one I'd go for when doing my weekly wash

Need to get some, winter prep is fast approaching, usually use tar remover, iron remover, (hearing good things about zero iron oxide) clay bar, ipa wide down but this will need to be included from now on. Currently debating whether to use infinity wax diablo wax on top of infinity wax turbo6 and use their new graphene qdx on top of those or go for GT 3 (havent tried it yet) with 2 sigma on top....decisions decisions lol. Again a super video, like your style of presenting and how you give feedback. My entire family think im mad for having a passion for detailing too

I remember John from Forensic Detailing questioning whether somebody who isn't prepared to polish a car should really use clay bars. Could this be a halfway house for someone who wants to look after their car but possibly not to detailing standards? Another good video.

Yeah I think for someone who doesn't want to clay this would be really useful to use a few times a year to kept keep the paintwork smoother. With that said, I don't think it does enough to replace clay but I think it's really good to help reduce the amount of times you'd need to properly decontaminate the paintwork.

Hello Heather, i have a bit of a dilemma, i hope you can answer my question. i purchased CarChem Super Suds shampoo after watching your review on it, now that i have watched this review i am questioning whether i should have bought this GT decon shampoo instead. You having used both shampoos, which one would you recommend is the better contact wash shampoo with more cleaning power? Thanks in advance.

They are very different products to be honest. I use decon shampoo when I want to remove existing protection and start from scratch, or to deep clean a ceramic coating every 4-6 months. It's definitely not something I'd use on weekly washes. Something like Super Suds is great for regular maintenance washes

Nope don’t use this weekly as it’s too strong. Go for their One: Car Shampoo for maintenance washes
