My suggestion would be to add larger tires to all 4 corners, then change the rear portal gears on the portals to allow for more torque and to keep similar ratios.

@@michaelcoulton883i dont know how it is in rest of the world but in slovakia, even an Audi Allroad with airsuspension is not a guilt. In a technical documentation of the car where is VIN, date of manufacture type of the vehicle etc. etc. Is also stated your tire measurements which tire you are allowed to mount on the vehicle. You can rise a ground clearance by 2-3cm which allows you to use larger tire e.g 19 or 20inch 255/35/R20 but in that documentation is only R16 195/65/ R16 or 265/35/R18 for summer usage. And now what... that was only an example, every vehicle has its own documentation with exact tires you are allowed to use, BECAUSE when you compare xxx/ 65 / R16 and xxx / 35 / R18 they have almost the same crossection lenght so the speed of your vehicle on the dashboard matching almost the same. When you equip your car with R20 tires and you use xxx/ 30 / R20 this tire is by few centimeters larger thus, when you have 50kmh on the dashboard in reallity you go 3-5kmh faster and that is against law in slovakia.

The Lada (original models) were based off the late 1960s Fiat 124 sedan, an Italian design, but Russian cars are cool regardless as they last forever. :) Japanese cars are my favorite though, as they combine modern features with longevity, a best of both worlds.

@@thatguyalex2835 Ohh yes I'm very aware of the various Russian car designs being based off other Western car designs. I find it fascinating. My favorite is old German cars. I always wanted to see you guys install a suspension that enables all 4 tires to spin 360° which would likely require Hydraulic power
@TheHungrySlug9 ай бұрын
Well they already spin 360°. You mean 'turn' 360°. Seriously, that'd be interesting to see the guys figure that one out and the result would be unique. Now I've got omni-directional drive stuck in my head.
@jwalster94129 ай бұрын
Some manufacturers have done AWS, but in most cases the rear wheel barely moves. 360° would probably be a mit overkill, but it's likely possible on a budget with basic hardware, anything past 70-80° is beyond what modified suspension that still retains suspension stuff can do. And finding a diner car with independent rear suspension, because you can't really have a driven live axle turn, and that can easily be ripped down and everything modified would be Next to impossible. As for 360°, turning, you might be able to do it on non driven wheels, but even then it would be extremely difficult.
@Maungateitei9 ай бұрын
Put some 24V 4kW starter motors on top of the front pillars with the solenoid engagment driving chains to the front wheels. Then you can have off road front wheel drive hybrid capability. Probably best geared for say 10-15kmph top speed, they will supply all the torque you could ask for in off road situations where you need the 4wd. Our series one land-rover would start in low range first or second gear no problems from standstill on a steep hill. It was a 1600cc about weight as your lada. You might not even need 24V 4kW motors, 12V 1.5 to 2kW might be perfectly adequate.

Twin chain not one
@glencalhoun95449 ай бұрын
Well, considering that you never upgraded the suspension at all, only made extensions for the hubs to drop down, you didn't improve the ride quality at all whatsoever.... Probably made it a shat load worse considering the geometry is off AF now with tons of leverage force being applied to the original suspension parts and the chain drive set up you made for it. The ONLY thing you actually improved with this set up is the ground clearance. Although that's ONLY as long as these extensions don't break. Which is most likely the outcome you will receive should you try to actually use that extra ground clearance. This MIGHT work for a Super Slow Donk, to get the body up off the giant rims, but even then I'd be super nervous about it breaking and destroying the rest...... It has been done on a much larger scale though. By a company with hydrologic rams that can lift the car and spread the wheels out to drive over cars without touching them.
