@@narancs5 That's more to prevent roll over and instability not that the roof wouldn't take it. Any even half assed well build car will withstand its own weight on the roof (to be safe in rollover), and truly well built cars will last many times their own weight on the roof. Then they loaded several hundreds of pounds of drywall and plywood on the roof. Home Depot wouldn't let them leave until they signed a waiver for potential damages. The car was spotted a few blocks away with the rear shocks shoved thru the trunk.

Do the independent brakes - 4 master cylinders connected to a joystick in an X layout and the master cylinders separately connected each to a respective wheel. Drive, and use the joystick to activate each brake independently to steer. (or use 4 brake pedals?) Also, hook up the throttle to the steering wheel.

@@thefreedomguyuk Dude, not an actual electronic joystick, you clown :P A metal rod that pivots like a joystick, which actuates pushrods into the master cylinders. Like a FWD manual shifter mechanism with a nylon ball on the bottom and rods welded to the shift rod - push it forward, front brakes engage. Push it to the forward left, the front left brake actuates. Push it to the left, both left brakes actuate. And so on in that fashion.

The actual result for the 1.5 ton test occurred around 14:03 when the Lada had essentially no momentum and yielded around 568 kg. The 800 kg they claimed was a product of the Lada's inertia as a result of the relatively short distance they were able to accelerate (uninhibited by the Hummer) after allowing the Lada to drift backward slightly. Nonetheless, it was still entertaining and the results were mostly meaningful.

When I was a kid, most people here drove big RWD American cars and carrying one or two sacs of sand or road salt in the trunk was normal in winter. By the time Ladas started being imported into Canada, most new cars were FWD, but Lada drivers still relied on the old trick of adding weight in the trunk.

Really cool test, I've always wanted to see how much lateral force a vehicle can apply with X weight over the drive wheels. Just wish they'd done this on a controlled surface like inside the shop so you can ensure the same amount of traction every time vs the tire studs digging through the snow to the surface below affecting the results. Hard to imagine that the weight on that little car is 700 pounds more than my Ford F-150 weighs. Unreal.
