Beautiful crx and great job guys! 👏 I just thought maybe you might have missed a part, where you have to tension the timing belt by spinning the crank counterclockwise about 3 teeth and then tightening the Tensioner to properly remove any slack. Some folks might not be aware of this procedure if there new. Other then that awesome video John. 🙏

Watched this again, because -- now that I have done my own timing belt job -- this looks different. I also wanted to compare the differences between the DOHC and SOHC engines. Fascinating stuff, Jon! Also, seeing this JDM version stirred something deep within me. See, I used to live in Japan, and have ridden in a CRX exactly like this one. It even had rear seats! Oh, and I also have Mugen MR-5s on my EF now. haha

That's not an OEM water pump you removed. It was an Aisin. High quality aftermarket water pump from an OEM supplier. They make a lot of water pumps, oil pumps, brake parts and clutch parts for Japanese cars. Genuine OEM Honda water pumps are usually made by Yamada. You would see a winged emblem embossed on the pump body. The EF8 SIR is a gorgeous car though. Love the period-correct Mugen wheels.

Glad I found this video. I see most everyone removing the actual cams to replace the seals. Is the way you did it okay? By removing them with a pick or screwdriver then taping them into place with an extension? Seems much easier than removing the cams!

Are you familiar with that ac compressor. I’m actually looking for a replacement. I was told it’s similar to a U.S. da integra compressor and I’ve also read that the U.S nsx uses the same one? Any input?

I learned after you do the timing belt and everything is lined up you readjust the timing belt tensioner by loosening the tensioner bolt and rotate the crank counter clockwise by three teeth and than tighten tensioner bolt back down to 40ftlbs I believe. I just did a b18 swapped crx 2 weeks ago,

Yeah, I was going to say the same thing. There is a reason for the spring on the tensioner. The way he tensioned this belt makes me nervous. Seems like way too much slack in the belt between the cams

I dont understand why you dont install the T-belt clockwise from the crank to Cams to waterpump and finish with the tensioner. The critical distance is the crank to exhaust cam and then the cam to cam. All the slack should be taken up by the tensioner, which is why you should end up there.
