Thanks for this. I was messing with deadlifts the other day because I haven't done it in a while. I put 300 on the bar (%90 of my all time max) and struggled to hlget it off the ground - but once it was up, the bar moved buttery smooth. So everything felt stronger once it was off the ground, but I need to strengthen that first inch or two.

Hit some 1 1/2” to 2” deficit deadlifts…also back your shins away from the bar a little be about 2-3” out then when brace and set bring your shins to the bar your knees should be just slightly over the bar to start. Learn how to take the slack out of the bar pull up hard on the bar and let it pull your arms so your upper back rounds just slightly this will also help set your hips slightly higher-you should see a drastic improvement good luck!

Warning against reverse range deadlifts in an apartment: I started with too heavy a weight (and maybe not the best warmup, I got halfway down the range and that's when the weight was too much or at least it surprised me. If it was a squat, no biggie, just let the bar squish you and let it land on the spotters to abandon the rep. But in this case, I had lost form and didn't want to drop the bar so I pulled it back up. It was dumb in general, I had something quite close to my 1 rep max on the bar, really shouldn't have done that. It was a reflex for me to choose to pull the bar up and hurt myself instead of making noise. I would advise that someone who is in my situation that if they are going to do reverse range deadlifts, to consciously tell yourself that you will drop the bar if you can't make a good rep. Kinda like when you start in a restaurant and they tell you that if you drop something in the frier, that you shouldn't try to go get it.

ahw thank you sooo much for exclaiming what I was literally to stupid to see in my training logs - I had a purist ATG paused squat phase one year ago which made my deadlift explode like hell and it annoyed me soo much because I wanted to increase my squat, now I don't care about my deadlift (200+kg) because I gotta get my squat up (from 150 to 180kg) and paused squats don't really work for that, but front squats do :X sometimes you just gotta have those Dane Miller inspiration, thanks a bunch!

@rayantraceur
@rayantraceur Жыл бұрын
Hey, if it's 315 kg I don't think I'll be able to help you but if it's in pounds, I'd say Train with 10kg (sets of 1min) /20kg (sets of 15-20s) plate pinching. 1 arm hangs, 10-20sec each arm, 5 sets. Or long 2 arm holds. I have 150kg/330lbs DL with pronated grip and I think my years of calisthenics helped ! Or just go very specific and take 75-85% of you 1RM after your DL sets and hold it at the top for the longest time, something like 5 or more sets with 1min30 rest ? And go with hook grip during your DL sets, man, it's a cheat code.

I don’t See one of the Most important principles of strength Training in this Video. Why do you use such unspecific exercises for a specific strength Goal? That doesn‘t work up with the SAID Principle. Paused backsquats, overhead split Squat etc. are nice and good exercises. But they are not specific and in my opinion they should not be in the Top 5 For deadlifts. Deficit deadlift, Block Start deadlift, paused deadlifts in different positions, snatchgrip deadlifts, sumo deadlift etc pp…. That are great execises with specification. Why do you Choose your Top 5 this way and not in a More specific perspective?

For wrestlers, do you prioritize pulling movements like pullups and heavy rows over things like the deadlift, or include deadlifts to maximize the load on the back, biceps, and hamstrings? With as taxing as deadlifts can be, would it be smarter to utilize pause atg back squats, heavy rows, and grip work to get a similar stimulus, as opposed to focusing on a deadlift?
