I'm still convinced that the haphazardly slapped on AR grip by Springfield is what messed up the ergonomics for the safety. The original grip looks like it would have positioned your hand slightly further back, giving a more natural position to flip the safety from. A custom made aftermarket grip could potentially fix this, and maybe even restore some of the visual design of the original too.

Hit the nail on the head. Sad part is the safety is very intuitive for switching between safe, automatic, and back to safe. HB Industries made an AK-style safety (their name for it, not mine) that was essentially a front-facing lever kinda like the Five-seveN. When it's on safe, the lever is down by the trigger so you'll know it's on safe right away. On fire, it's out of the way and points forward. That safety would be almost perfect for this rifle.

Awesome looking rifle. Price is a bit unreasonable though. As with most bullpup but Still dope. I personally love my keltec RDB. Perfectly balanced and light weight and ambi in all ways with that H&K slap to send the bolt home. Just pleases my soul.
@ALovelyBunchOfDragonballz Жыл бұрын
I'm genuinely surprised I dont hear bad things about the RDB. The only complaints are "it gets hot" and that's just probably due to the thin barrel not regaining any heat, and that if one doesnt grip it right they can hit the magazine release but that requires some properly inproper hand placement, neither of which are really deal breakers. How are your groups with it? I've seen it to be about 3moa with ball ammo which I would find more than acceptable for what it is.
@Sin526 Жыл бұрын
You guys should see my customized RDB 20... literally ALL the things that Mike complains about/notes as an issue with this thing are just not an issue with my RDB. Trigger is great (not just "for a Bullpup"), the ergos are superior, the full length mlok handguard is more versatile for mounting and better for gripping, the height over bore for optics is less extreme, etc... It has some quirks/issues, but fundamentally I believe it's a superior platform and deserves a "V2" that turns it into a truly "professional grade" weapon system.

The problem with the safety and the grip is thanks to Springfield, that for some dumb reason decided that they couldn't have a non-AR grip in "their" "new" gun so they threw the original grip away (probably to fill their changes quota to be able import it) messing with the whole ergonomics of the gun.
@prototype3a2 жыл бұрын
The problem is they designed it for an AR grip with the "beaver tail" instead of a grip like the Magpul MOE-K which does not have the beaver tail.
@foughtwolf2 жыл бұрын
@@prototype3a Im curious if it was a design choice or if it was simply a loophole to get it imported, since it would have come in without a pistol grip at all.
@prototype3a2 жыл бұрын
@@foughtwolf I suspect it was partially for 922r and also partially because SA is dumb.
@009013M32 жыл бұрын
That "dumb reason" is because you can't import a weapon like this with a protruding pistol grip due to the import ban, because it doesn't pass the "sporting purpose" test with the grip attached.
