I was able to fix my Waste King garbage disposal. I did the initial installation when I bought the house. But for some reason This was the third time that I had to replace the outlet. After replacing the bad outlet, I still couldn't get the garbage disposal to work. But then finally after using a piece of PVC I got it to unclog and work. I was already shopping on line for a replacement. But luckily I found a video of how to unclog the Waste King type. So, thanks to this type of videos I saved myself a bunch of money.

When we bought the condo - we had a 1/4 hp cheep disposal unit. Replaced it with the same brand, 1/2 hp - same brand. Still only worked about 2 years. Replaced it again, Same brand, again 2+ years. Decided I'd go with a Waste King - with a 5 year warranted. It worked just about 5 years. They sent me a replacement. Whoo Hoo..... Still haven't replaced it. Today's the big day. This video saved me a lot of trouble when I replaced my Waste King with another brand. The simple process of removing the rubber collar under the lock ring was something I had forgotten from installing the Waste King more than ten years ago.

I installed this unit about 3 months ago using the directions given, (using rubber gasget on aluminum sink instead of plumbers caulk) big big mistake. It started leaking this morning from the rubber basket, I threw the instructions away at the time install was completed, another mistake, I could not figure out how to remove it. At 76 yrs old my memory isn't that great so naturally I forgot how I installed it. I came across you video and bang, what was holding the clamp part was the big rubber washer, I removed it and removed the remaining parts, thanks to you. This time I used plumbers putty and it works great. For all of you that watch this video let it be a lesson, old way (plumbers putty is best). I know this will help many of us DIY'ers.. For me moving the projection thing to other end was toughest . It is stuck in the middle. Tried soap but no luck. Otherwise mostly straightforward. Thanks a lot!

We had the same problem. Very difficult to get the ring to turn to where the projection was more than half way. Finally got it by (1) reinstalling the rubber mount seal, (2) coating the slot in the ring with vaseline, and (3) putting a bottle jack under the disposal to push it up slightly to relieve the weight from the ring. Not sure which of those things got it done.

My top of the Line 9980 just stopped spinning. The motor runs. the turntable just doesn't spin. Luckily i have a LifeTime in home service warrant. WK is sending out a Moen 1 HP unit free of charge :)

The person who installed mine did it wrong or the fiber gasket was defective. It ate itself away and eventually started leaking. The part you mount the GD to has all this nasty crud on it and I think it may be effecting me being able to take it off. I just can't get it to budge even smacking it with a hammer. Any suggestion?

Nothing like replacing a pos waste king disposal with another waste king. Just get a 1/2 hp or larger insinkeratorv and don't worry about it for the next 20 years

If the motor was humming. Why replace? Motor was just jammed up. Could have un jammed it and continue to use.

After a chemical reaction, those blades were almost like welded to the base. I've tried leverage and WD40 to unjam it... nothing worked.
