GARBAGE Gmod Horror Maps

Garry’s Mod in recent months has become a lot more scary. However, before the days of gm_construct ARGS, horror maps were the goto method of making Gmod scary. But how scary were they? Are they any good? Or are they just a jumpscare simulator? Let’s find out.

The best "horror map" ive ever played is one that is supposed to be a haunted version of a default map. There was something around it that actually made me uncomfortable. There was no jumpscares and the worse about it was shadow figures that i couldnt directly look at and i wouldnt even really notice it most of the time so it made me extra paranoid

I used to get the strangest feeling of fear when playing games that are usually multiplayer Like the feeling of being watched, except there's just another player on the map without you knowing I almost crapped myself after seeing a Terminator SNPC after a war setup that I had just wandering in the mirror room The guy just ran off by himself and managed to survive for HOURS

I played a horror map that was named "Forgotten asylum" it was the first horror map I ever played. I carried a Davy Crocket RPG, every jumpscare I would shoot it.

the issue with many of such maps is how, they're so focused in being jumpscary they dont make it normally scary as i read once, jumpscares would be like a comedian coming and tickling you, yeah youre laughing but not because it was funny jumpscares often are used when theres no fear aside from dark place its amazing how the original map, with no jumpscares and a simple normal place, ended up scarier than many intentionally spooky games tho i gotta admit - playing by using unintended tools + with friends is probably the best way to make anything not scary really

There's this one cool Fallout 4 mod called "South of the Sea" which adds in these cool underground tunnels that kinda remind me of Gm_theunderground. For context, the Glowing Sea from Fallout 4 is a highly irradiated area that takes up almost a quarter of the map. It is ground 0 for the nuke that destroyed Boston. The explosion caused the ground to turn into mud and sunk many of the buildings underground. What this mod does is allow you to explore these sunken buildings, connected by tunnels dug out by either the Children of Atom, or some wasteland creature. It is very scary as most of the enemies on the map are very tough and one mistake can easily lead to your death. On Survival mode, food and water are scarce with your only break being this large supermarket which is inhabited by a very powerful Deathclaw. Edit: I totally forgot to mention that there are actually multiple Deathclaws in the supermarket and they are special unique variants exclusive to this mod.
