Garbage Truck - Front Load Fun - 17 Minutes of Action

Have you ever wanted to follow a front end load garbage truck on it's route? This will be a close example of a standard front load garbage collection route. You'll see how the route is started early and works through the morning. This is only a 17 minute sample of the day, but it was taken throughout the route. I spent an entire day documenting this truck, so I really hope everyone enjoys my effort.

I've been operating front load trucks for about eight years now. The newer trucks have dummy proof safety and speed restriction devices on them. The current one I drive has a arm cushioning feature which is supposed to prevent the operator from banging the can, but I've had enough time with the truck to learn the sweet spot where I can still tap it. The new trash trucks feel almost like your driving a cadillac, but they are certainly not the workhorses of the past.

I agree, this is a very gentle truck. I see now why they have that little hook at the end. I knew why, but had yet to see it in action. Excellent. I also like how the lights switch in the correct ways.

Thnx guys, it was awesome having Alan document the new truck :-) Sadly, our "powers that be" took them away from us so I was only able to test her out that Friday & Thursday. We're supposed to get them back on the 22nd or 23rd. The only thing I didn't like about her are the autolube lines that are on the forks. My route is covered in trees as Alan saw, and the lines were ripped off as a result of driving past them or servicing cans by/under them. Outside of that, she seems like a decent truck.

Great job filming, great job to Thunder working! Lots of backup lights, wow! One thing I don't like about new trucks is that you can bang and slam so much like he used to do in the Mack haha. Lots of 8yd's, don't have many of the square top ones here. Awesome video!

At the time of this video, it was literally his second day with this particular truck. He's taking his time. Better to know the truck, rather than power through and make a mistake. He's run FEL for years.

I like to get different angles. Some people like seeing the truck from the front to see the forks moving around, other people like to see it from behind to see the garbage fall in more clearly.

Hopefully they'll get those trucks back on the road ASAP... seems silly that a little bureaucracy is holding up forward progress, especially since these trucks are better for them to run.

just a little hint brother its easier to level and dump the bin before the arms have completed the cycle....do them both at once if you get my drift save you about 2 3 seconds per lift.

Wow, Alan great video! Dejuan is really skilled. How is he liking this new truck? Eventhough it's a CNG, at times it was pretty loud. My favorite shot was at 14:18!

no disrespect but he shouldnt have too especially after 2 days with the truck and all the experience you say he,...i can see a few bins but most fel drivers are use to a truck after a couple hours.

That guy at about 6:30 who was walking behind the garbage truck was lucky it wasn't going in reverse. He would have been run over and possibly killed by it.
