I got bit by one of those bloody false widow spiders on my forehead. She was hanging from my greenhouse roof and I walked straight into her 😡😡 I ended up having to go to A&E as my whole face swelled up and couldn’t open my 👀 !!!!!!

How lovely it is to have a new poly Danny. You have the space for a bigger tunnel unlike me with one only 3x2 meters. That’s the dream. I’m acquiring an 8x6 greenhouse to move over this winter from my friend and fellow plot holder, so I will make do. Will be so lovely for you though, it only seems 5 minutes since you covered your existing one! I’m sure the leeks will transplant ok though. Fancy you nearly turning into spider man. Imagine having super powers like that. You’d never need twine would you. You’d just spin it! 😂😂 don’t over do it Danny you’ve only just recovered from the dreaded COVID. ❤

I had the same problem with my mesh tunnels as you do with yours. I used to be an elementary librarian on the Navajo Nation and was familar with the Prairie Schooner (Prairie Wagon). The settlers would put their wagon tarp across the arched ribs of the wagon. To make the tarp snug and wind proof, they would put both end ribs on a slant, leaning over the drivers seat and also over the back of the wagon. I did this with my mesh tunnel and it worked beautifully. Hope this helps! Exciting times for you and your new polytunnel and reworking your plots!

Hi Danny, what are you like, shared of spiders 😂 I think this time of year is just as busy as the Summer. I have a list as longvas my arm and not ticking off many 🙄 it has been an awful year for us all. I have the the metal hoops from first tunnels too. What I do for stability I crossed them over each by placing each end in opposite corners, as they do have the join so you can put one hoop over the other, works a treat, they stay in all winter and our site is very windy. It's not your day today, falling over 😂 glad you are ok ❤ you have lots to do! Great video update. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊

I have used just a piece of scrap wood for the tunnel ridgepole lashed to the hoops with a zip tie so there are no sharp edges to make holes in the cover. Good luck with that polytunnel!

Oh those darn asparagus😂 I also have them very close to where I want to extend the greenhouse a couple feet. 😂no wonder you have so many slugs if they are in purchased amendments! Wonder if it was heated if it would kill the eggs. What’s the point-right? I’m so glad we don’t have black widows as a friend on east coast does-yikes! We have a brown recluse, but I’ve only heard they were in our state. I guess depending on the cost to rent an allotment I would till it and plant larger crops-potatoes, corn, ect. It would be a lot to take care of divided into raised beds. If you crisscross two hoops on each end of raised bed the hoops will stay put. We have had the strangest weather! We had extreme heat last weekend now we are close to freezing this weekend only to flip back to hot all week. The rain dried up that we had all summer in Wisconsin, Midwest US. It is not what the fall seedlings need. Beans, beans and more beans😂. I gave up😅. They are seed for next year now. Enjoyed the video-thank you!

The rent for my plot is fairly cheap. I think it's around £25 a year including water, toilets, locked gates and insurance :) the weather is so irratic I agree. Goodluck with your beans next year! Hopefully the weather will play game!

False widow spiders bite is no worse than a wasp sting and usually lasts 1 hour sometimes up to 12 hours- I guess all peeps react differently, but they definitely won't kill you!. Shame about your asparagus bed and the tomatoes. Exciting to have a new tunnel though. I was bitten by an adder many years ago- now that was scary. A trip to hospital soon sorted me. The Dr. said it was a young one that bit me - he was Australian, (the Dr not the snake, ha ha0 and said the fang marks were too close together to be a large adult.I have had loads of rain here in Wiltshire and N. Somerset- just over the water from S.Wales. Love the net idea for collecting seed. I think I will use that idea to collect my sunflower seeds. Thank you- brilliant! Happy gardening 🙂

Absolutely not! They were successful in spring and early summer. Then it rained and rained. But I'd say 80% successful and then disaster ha. The polytunnel is a huge treat off first tunnels. Here's to 2025! x

Haha I'd never shout. I did consider it.. the main issue is.. it gets no sun until 4pm everyday due to the boundary trees. Outside of the allotment. It's a very very shady plot. The one I took on gets 90% more sun. Or I would have haha

Hi Danny! Love your channel!! Our growing conditions are very different, zone 8b Texas here. Many people think that a long growing season like mine is great. It's not if you don't have the shade cloths and stuff you need to save your crops. I'm happy fall is almost here😊 You have a lovely garden. Mine is dead right now lol. I get my tomatoes at the end of May till about the last week of June and then they're done. The only thing I have left is my huge fig tree. It's a very old tree, has been cut down almost to the ground, because someone ran it over a couple years ago..😮 It came back with a vengeance

My fig tree is probably about 50 years old. I don't know how a younger tree would respond to being cut down. I thought mine was dead, and cried a little😊 It started sprouting about a month or two after. Was spindly the first year with few figs. This year it's all bushy with hundreds of figs!! I would probably just prune a younger fig tree, but what do I know😊 Had no choice with my tree, since my boyfriend ran it down with a big trailer😮 False widow spiders sounds creepy, don't really like spiders...I had a tarantula in one of my flowerbeds earlier this year...
